Laura and dan are correct in their translation of the expression"la raza". Latinos are a melting pot of races, religions and ethnic groups. Many of them do speak other languages. I lived for some years in California and it is true that there is no majority and that everyone is a minority. I lived in LA which is the melting pot of the world and experiencing all the cultures was a great experience. Translations are required by federal law and are often done in other languages. Sometimes a threshold of numbers has to be reached first.

Usually any organization that has "White People" in it is labeled radical, supremece and neo-nazi. You would only be getting money from that rense site.

Now if ex-spanics are inbred from other races (or ethnicities, however you want it) why are they STILL ex-spanics? Why don't they speak other ethnicical languages other than spanish? If they aren't trying to take over the U.S. state by state and congress(person) by congress(person), why is Gurraldo Rivera so ecstatic that California is now over half ex-spanic? That makes everyother race (or ethnicity) minorities. Imagine that. Lastely, why does the U.S. pander to ex-spanics thru language/document catering and not to ALL other nationalities to show an unbias?

I'm sure that someone out there will be able to aptly field these questions and give solid, factual answers.

He's got a good track record pointing out snakes and rats too..

If I was running an organization that had managed to scam the federal government out of millions of dollars in the cause of advocating for an ethnic group to the exclusion of others, you can bet I would have a ready answer for each of my transgressions.

I'm thinking of starting the National Council of White People to get a shot at that money faucet.

LaRaza can put anything they want on their website. The fact remains they are a leftist organization who have and continue to lobby congress on behalf of illegal migrants. They have and continue to align themselves and operate in concert with other far left organizations looking to influence governments at all levels. This is not guilt by association but guilt by group think.

Fifty people looking out into a field at a horse and swearing it is a cow, does not make a horse a cow.

LaRaza is what it is.

Well, I already did but if you need some extra help its on the house,

"1. The Translation of Our Name: National Council of La Raza
Many people incorrectly translate our name, “La Raza,” as “the race.” While it is true that one meaning of “raza” in Spanish is indeed “race,” in Spanish, as in English and any other language, words can and do have multiple meanings. As noted in several online dictionaries, “La Raza” means “the people” or “the community.” Translating our name as “the race” is not only inaccurate, it is factually incorrect. “Hispanic” is an ethnicity, not a race. As anyone who has ever met a Dominican American, Mexican American, or Spanish American can attest, Hispanics can be and are members of any and all races.

The term “La Raza” has its origins in early 20th century Latin American literature and translates into English most closely as “the people,” or, according to some scholars, “the Hispanic people of the New World.” The term was coined by Mexican scholar José Vasconcelos to reflect the fact that the people of Latin America are a mixture of many of the world’s races, cultures, and religions. Mistranslating “La Raza” to mean “the race” implies that it is a term meant to exclude others. In fact, the full term coined by Vasconcelos, “La Raza Cósmica,” meaning the “cosmic people,” was developed to reflect not purity but the mixture inherent in the Hispanic people. This is an inclusive concept, meaning that Hispanics share with all other peoples of the world a common heritage and destiny."

For the record, NCLR has provided an excellent response to misrepresenatations about the organization and its work its website, link here: http://nclr.org/content/viewpoints/detail/42500/

But just to highlight a few that have been touched on here:

"5. Border Security and Immigration
Unfortunately, NCLR has been called an “open-borders advocate” and the “illegal alien lobby” numerous times. NCLR has repeatedly recognized the right of the United States, as a sovereign nation, to control its borders. Moreover, NCLR has supported numerous specific measures to strengthen border enforcement, provided that such enforcement is conducted fairly, humanely, and in a nondiscriminatory fashion."

And the Reconquista:
"Another misconception about NCLR is that we support a “Reconquista,” or the right of Mexico to reclaim land in the southwestern United States. NCLR has not made and does not make any such claim; indeed, such a claim is so far outside of the mainstream of the Latino community that we find it incredible that our critics raise it as an issue. NCLR has never supported and does not endorse the notion of a “Reconquista” or “Aztlán.” Similarly, NCLR’s critics falsely claim that the statement “Por La Raza todo, Fuera de La Raza nada,” [“For the community everything, outside the community nothing”] is NCLR’s motto. NCLR unequivocally rejects this statement, which is not and has never been the motto of any Latino organization."

Of course La Raza supports open borders. Without open borders, there is no La Raza is there ?

La Raza pulls in something like 20-30 million a year in public and private money. If you want to see who is advocating for illegal migration, just follow the money.
