I’m Back…

…Well, sort of. I’m not back in The States yet, but thanks to a gracious new roommate with a laptop and Internet connection, I’m back on the blog. Sure beats waiting in line for a community computer.
So, this past year or so has gone by quick for me. A summary:
-Few months of train-up in miserable Camp Shelby, Mississippi.
-Got sent to Kuwait, of all places.
-Nothing ever happens in Kuwait. Sat around doing security missions for almost 8 months.
-Asked for and finally received a transfer (hence the new roommate).
-Got to Baghdad about 5 weeks ago.
I’ve been assigned to a CAV unit, and we run short escort missions around the city. I don’t think I can go into much more detail than that, but I will say I miss Infantry work.
Hope everyone is well. I’ll probably be throwing in my two cents on some old news while I try to catch up on what’s been going on locally back home.
There won’t be any ”Rantings of a Drunken Vet” while I’m here. If I had any fans of that…sorry. Write your Senator and Congressman, and tell them to change the drinking policy over here. That was a joke. Well, sort of.
So what happened to the Poof Guy?

Whoa, welcome back NR, you mastered that technology quickly. It’s great to have you back in the club.
Stay Puft fell off the grid somehow. Hopefully he is off getting married or doing a visiting professor stint at some swanky school on Long Island or riding horses down in Argentina - something fun.

I have NR’s address, I’ll leave it up to him whether he wants it shared (by private e-mail only, not via the Web).
I checked this “Oath” guy’s site and and I don’t know, he looks like sort of a right wing nut job to me. Seems to think John McCain is not conservative enough.

C’mon Joe, you mean far right, right, right wing nut job. (BTW, I only use the Reagan scale of up or down.) As you will note, I do defend McCain’s record against the nut jobs but not on conservative credentials. I’ve had it with the green stuff and McCain’s recent illegal aliens flop. He’s trying to out democrat the Democrats. Ain’t gonna happen and you know it.
I know well how far tobacco and Human Events will go with a combat soldier. If you’re worried, I’ll pitch in via paypal. How’s that?

Heh, nah you don’t have to pitch in, but we’re going to mix it up a little for the boy this time, try and impose some more elite culture as well as get him caught up with the news.
