That article is absolute rubbish and you know you think so too.

Did you read the article? It sounds like the absolute truth to me. I’m surprised you would suggest any of it is not factual. Even the conclusions D’Souza draws seem perfectly consistent with everything we have seen from the Obamas.

Particularly damning in my view is the segment from her thesis. I personally am going to do some more digging into that matter. If D’Souza happened to pick out the one paragraph that was not proofread, well, ok. But if the whole thing is that bad … stay tuned.

ROFL. Oooh you flame fanning provocateur!

And yeah, I actually did read the article this time. And the post at AOS, which is why I’m laughing.

Ok I just downloaded it. The only thing I really care about is if the woman could not write a proper sentence and still graduated cum laude.

I don’t think her “views” per se in 1985 should account for a hill of beans, but the notion that she has benefited from “affirmative” action her entire life and still rails against this country would be revealing about her character. I also think the very strange incongruities about Barack - namely, he seems so reasonable yet hangs out with execrable America-haters - would be explained if his wife is revealed to be, simply, a freak. Might be better for him actually.

D’Souza is the one who’s crying in his beer because he never got into Princeton and is resigned to writing crappy postulations for Townhall.com.

I’ve also never taken the time to look into how Ms. Obama “rails against this country” or how often. I remember her gaffe about pride in her country as an adult, but nothing else has broken so much wind since.

How does D’Souza know she was let in on affirmative action? Does she say or has anyone said she got in for being Black? Or, is it safe to assume that NO Black person could have gotten in without it being a result of affirmative action? I honestly don’t know if she has said or if she really was let in on those grounds.

And so on, and so on, and so on.

    Useless tripe.

  6. Joe Budzinski said:

From the article I would say her test scores are also public information.

  7. kevin said:

Help me understand affirmative action. You have to take a test to qualify?

  8. Joe Budzinski said:

Um, no, but you did have to take SATs or ACTs even back in the prehistoric era when Michelle and I were in college.

    I love the quote:

“enjoyed benefits and privileges that they would probably never get if they happened to be white”

And I look forward to saying “this reflects an estranged relationship to the English language” on a paper I grade this next year.

I wonder how her scores compare to W’s. I know my SATs were similar to his and Yale certainly wasn’t on my list.

It’s clear you just didn’t aim high enough. You either, Joe. Me either, for that matter.

So, by now we’ve established that we don’t know Michelle’s test scores, we don’t know whether she was let in on account of affirmative action. . .
Let’s drill down a little bit deeper, as is popular to say in today’s parlance. . .

    jefe,
have you ever heard of grade inflation? SAT scores today average higher than they did back then.

As dumb as Jorge is, he still graduated with better grades than Al Gore, or John F. Kerry. Guess he who mutters is still smarter than he who pontificates or nuances ad nauseum. what are ol AG’s and JFK SAT scores anyway?

  12. jefe said:

jorge, funny. guess my hispanic screen name saves some energy.

SAT scores have gone up, so have entrance requirments, so have IQ scores (see Flynn effect). guess younger folks are smarter, which probably why they are flocking to Obama.

  13. Joe Budzinski said:

You are right about SATs being inflated now, and entrance requirements raised proportionately, but that does not make young people any smarter today than in years past. They are still just plain young, which explains their flocking to Obama.

  14. Lovisa said:

Guess they didn’t have SATs when McCain was in high school, but I understand he was pretty near the floor, gradewise, when he graduated from the Naval Academy.

Considering that both is father and grandfather were admirals. it’s possible that he also “enjoyed benefits and priveleges” he otherwise would not have been afforded.

Anybody believe that “W” would have made into Yale if it hadn’t been for his forefathers? Wonder what his thesis looked like before editing?

IOW - quit bitching about Michelle Obama!

  15. Joe Budzinski said:

The thing that interests me is not how high her scores were but if D’Souza’s contention about her receiving special treatment is true. Graduating from Princeton cum laude with an 8th grade writing ability would be a strong hint of this. And the reason I find THAT interesting is because she runs down this country and hangs with people who hate America. Which is all fine and good - unless you’ve been the beneficiary of the country you are running down, which to me would indicate psychological problems.

    That’s all I’m saying.

“SAT scores have gone up, so have entrance requirments (sic)”

Really? I don’t think so. According to the Census Bureau, we have a higher proportion of college graduates than ever before. That’s not likely if entrance requirements have been going up.

“[I] guess younger folks are smarter, which probably why they are flocking to Obama.”

Actually, I have written about this phenomenon on this blog. The prefrontal cortex, which deals with logic and critical thinking, is not fully developed until the late 20’s. Later in life, the prefrontal cortex degenerates. Thus, both the young and the old are more likely to be leftists.

    NoVisa,
Here’s a good article on McCain’t. Yes, he was 5th from the bottom in his 1958 class. He was a worse pilot and he REALLY sucks as a politician but he does have one attribute as stated here:

Robert Timberg wrote in his book, The Nightingale’s Song, that “being on liberty with John McCain was like being in a train wreck.”

This may also discribe his political run for the presidency.

    ACTivist,

    I can well imagine!

Makes me wonder where McCain would have been, had he NOT been shot down. Not to make light of his POW status. I have actually seen the Hanoi Hilton and it ain’t the Ritz! It was used by the French to house obstinate Vietnamese at one time.

Great statement from John Kennedy when asked by a little boy how he became a hero: “It was totally involuntary, I was shot down.”

Something is whack here. Kennedy and McCain’t were both in the NAVY but McCain’t flew and Kennedy piloted a PT boat. He was not shotdown but cleaved!

    Correction:

“It was totaly involuntary. They sank my boat.”
