Favre a Redskin ?
July 17th, 2008 by Shiplap
Can Brett Favre be seduced by Dan Snyder’s siren song ? Seems Favre has become less than enamored with Green Bay after their tepid reaction to his return to football. Do the Skins want him, and could they get him ?
I can easily see Favre-Moss supplanting Manning-Burris as the preeminent pitch-and-catch duo in the NFC East. Given the season Favre had last year, he will not be playing backup in Green Bay, he will be moving on. Why not Washington ?

I hope not. I have too much respect for Favre. The guy would get crushed, he needs a team with a solid front four. I would hate to see him end his days as a tackling dummy.
The Falcons would be a better place for him to go. The redskins are going to need a few more years of prancing about in the wilderness before they reach the land of beer and money

Aren’t the Packers still refusing to release him? I heard last night that the Packers were filing a complaint to the NFL against the Vikings for approaching Farve unofficially.
So much speculation, and I think it will get more complicated and ugly before it gets better.

I am sorry to that Favre is being treated poorly by GB, he is a class act and I thought that organization has treated people well over the years.

Jacob, I tend to agree, but Farve should never have retired! Even I knew he would want to come back.

In defense of Green Bay, are they being held hostage by Favre’s indecisiveness ?
At what point do you say “We gotta move on” ?.

I thought Brett was a class act but what did he really expect? He announced he was retiring. The GB organization started working on their upcoming season without him. He had a teary send-off and that should have been that. I feel that if sports players retire they should stay that way. Say what you mean-mean what you say. It has been shown that things are NEVER the same during a comeback and it usually affects the players’ capabilities. That’s just my read.

I can see both sides, however Favre is claiming the reason they are not releasing him is “to protect his legacy” which really means to “protect our legacy with you.” If they can legally let him go per his contract, they should.
Having said that, given his uncertainty over the past couple seasons this was totally predictable.

I am sure there is a lot being said out of the public eye by both sides. Seems that both GB and Brett are trying to make a play for public sympathy..
Danno, let’s solve this problem for them, go get Favre, and make an offer that both sides can’t refuse. What better legacy for Favre than to follow in the footsteps of Vince Lombardi !

He is probably better than 1/2 of the current starters in the league. He needs to land on a team that has the talent to compete and runs the same offense. That being the Holmgren,Steve Mariucci, Jon Gruden, Andy Reid offense. Guess who is running a variation of that Holmgrem offense ?
Thats right sports fans, the Washington Redskins. Having just hired Holmgrens ex QB coach as our head coach, Jim Zorn is inserting said same offense as we speak.
Here is what has to happen if you want Favre as a Redskin: Steve Mariucci is the one guy who can convince Favre to join the skins. Snyder fires Vinny Cerrato, hires the Mooch as VP of football operations and QB consultant. Mooch brings Favre to the Skins to finish out his career in the NFC east. The Skins current QB ( a big Favre fan ) gets two more seasons to develope Done !

That sounds so simple!
