UPDATE
He actually said it. Obama claims McCain thinks middles class ends at $5M. That was joke. Obama knows it was a joke. But he treats it like it was serious. He is lying through his teeth.

To shift ones position with every change in the wind is to flip flop. To observe over time, and change ones mind because as new information becomes available one can put together a more informed choice is sometimes sorrowful wisdom. I was planning to stay home and get into a pain free state this election day. Unfortunately, it appears that the differences between the candidates with regard to overall quality is sufficient to force me to make a decision, and to vote (sob). I will hate myself in the morning, but unfortunately, vote I must. The Democrats have once again won the ‘evil in the two lessors’ category. In a year that should have been a slam dunk for them, they have managed to make the race competitive.
There is a stuttering idiot in the White House; Bush has undone in 4 years what was the work of two generations, the building of a conservative majority. The Republican brand has been so badly damaged that this Presidential election should have been over before it began. It was until the Democrats found … the one.
Barak Hussien Obama, the grandson of a typical white person, has all of 167 working days in the U.S. senate. He has no executive experience, he might believe there are 57 states, considering that Dan Quayle was branded an idiot for misspelling potato, this is just one of several Obama gaffes that would have ended a Republicans chances for office. The real nail in the Obama coffin, for this bitter gun owner, comes from his speech in Berlin and his clueless sophistry at the Saddleback church.
Obama’s clueless approach to foreign policy is alarming. He is willing to abandon our allies in Iraq to appease the netroots led by George Soros. In order to not appear like a total weakling he then declares that we will unilaterally attack Pakistan, a weak ally that is armed with nukes. Then there are the lunatics in Iran, Obama declared he would meet them without preconditions, but Fox News is too evil to speak to? What is the thought process behind this posture?
Then we come to energy policy. Obama declares we will become independent of foreign oil in 10 years, without using nuclear power. This path requires technological breakthroughs in wind and solar power, as well as further breakthroughs in the distillation of bio-fuels as well. We cannot make the 10 year mark to an American landscape free of foreign oil. The 10 year plan fails to consider the realities of what it takes to implement a mature technology (like nuclear power) on this scale, let alone the uncertainties associated with untried technologies (like wind and solar).
Forty years is the shortest current time line for the fielding of non-nuclear electric power on an industrial scale. This does not begin to address the need for fuel for our vehicles. What are we going to do in this arena without nuclear power is not clear but it is certain it won’t happen in 10 years. Why no one in MSM takes Obama to task for this hopelessly unrealistic goal, further shows how much the press is carrying water for this light weight.
In short I did not want to vote, but here I am once again forced to choose the lesser of the two evils. I was going to sit this one out, and turn election day into a day to forget. Now, due to Obama’s shallowness, mendacity and clueless-ness regarding economics, foreign and energy policy I am reluctantly going to pull the lever for McCain. Yes, I will really hate myself in the morning.
“and to vote (sob)”
Cheer up, let’s take the day off, vote, throw some lead downrange, and wash the pain away with a cold one (or two), to celebrate being Americans.
if you’re going to vote for McCain, it’s probably a good idea to head straight to the gun range. The guy finds a crisis that demands a US military response under every rock. The Army’s going to need every man, woman, and child who can lift a gun to get through a McCain presidency!
I don’t know why your concerned with lack of substance all of a sudden, considering Bush’s main selling point 8 years ago was that he was the candidate people would most like to have a beer with, and his own executive “experience” was nothing to brag about. Looking back at the Republic party’s “leadership” since Bush 1.0, you might want to reconsider that pain free state!
If Bush is the one everyone would most like to have a beer with, for McCain better make it a case.
Marshmallow,
1. good to hear from you. Where the duce have you been?
2. “The Army’s going to need every man, woman, and child who can lift a gun to get through a McCain presidency! ”
Kill, kill kill! Urrah! (When I think you believe the above, I’ll give you a ‘better’ answer)
3. “I don’t know why your concerned with lack of substance all of a sudden, considering Bush’s main selling point 8 years ago was that he was the candidate people would most like to have a beer with, and his own executive “experience” was nothing to brag about.”
Where to start, OK …
3.a he had one term as a governor
3.b he was an business executive
3.c he was NOT a polished politican, come to think of, he never will be
3.d Barak makes Bush 2000 look weathered and tested. Think about it, the guy has all of 167 days in the Senate. He gives a good speech, whoopee.
4. “Looking back at the Republic party’s “leadership” since Bush 1.0, you might want to reconsider that pain free state!”
The pain free state is required, otherwise the pain can reach a level where it kills.
The party leadership since Bush 1.0, including Bush 1.0 has required a lot of medication, prayer, and just banging ones head against the wall to keep the pain below ‘agonizing’. For a while I thought Gingrich was going to carry Reagan’s torch, the problem was he could not fall out of love with his own voice. Then came Republican Lurch (Dole). The agony was almost unbearable.
I would have left the party except there is nowhere to go. The Democrats have been drifting ever leftward since the first JFK. Look at their presidential picks, expecially since Johnson. Clinton ran as the most centrist in the lot and he never broke 50%. Think about it.
What is a conservative with a libertarian streak to do? Socialism is not the answer.
Just close your eyes and say 3 times, Obama and the Supreme court. That will go a long way to curing your voter angst.
Jacob,
Tell you what. I will pick you up and take you to the polls. After that, we’ll go blast about 300 rounds. Then it is the bar and you can cry me a river about the mistake you made. I will always love you more for making a mistake. For THAT you can be forgiven!
Hmm, Governor of Texas does not rise to the level of experience as 146 days in the Senate, and chair of a Senate committee that is a big NOP on his watch.
precious..
Former gov Warner just said live that Virginia is a success story that we should write all across America.
The rest of America needs to do some research, and not by reading the Post!
jacob,
Was pondering further on your post and these are precisely the kind of fighting words that many who know you have been waiting to hear.
When Warner says Virginia has been a success story, he absolutely cannot speak to any accomplishments made as governor, or by his party as a whole in the Old Dominion. He is referring to progress made in coloring Virginia blue on election night, as many feel that Virginia could be this election’s Ohio or Florida. Some in Virginia feel that so goes Loudoun, so goes Virginia. If true, the spotlight will be on the LCRC big time to bring Loudoun home for John McCain.
Can they do it ? Certainly not without party faithful like yourself. If there is a time to win one for the gipper, this is it.
Four years ago, Omaba was a keynote speaker at the Democrat Convention. At this time, very few knew who he was, save for a few in the DNC leadership that were positioning him to be the chosen one in 2008.
Now, this unknown is being put forth as a candidate for the leader of the free world. To come from nowhere to where he is now, who is he beholden to for this meteoric rise from relative obscurity ? George Soros, and only George Soros ? I doubt it, I imagine the list goes on and on.
Given Obama’s extreme lack of credibility, it will be an absolute travesty for him to sit in the chair of Madison, Lincoln, Roosevelt, Kennedy, and Reagan. All rational Americans should realize that this is a mistake that we can ill afford.
In this election, we need to send an irrefutable message to Obama, Soros, and Moveon, “Good-bye, and don’t let the door hit you in the ass on the way out”.
and tell Mark Warner he was dead wrong.
Dan,
Mark Warner turned out to be a party hack. The media carried his water up the hill and went back down to fetch some more. The media also piled on Gilmore. That Gilmore is a weak on the issues does not help. Gilmore is even more liberal than McCain. Gilmore is not as dynamic as McCain, which has a certain wow factor, but in all the wrong ways.
Obama is an empty suit who claimed to be a new post-racial, post-party, post-anything-you-want kind of guy. The guy is long on flash and short on bang. He is also, damningly thin skinned, and vindictive. Note:
1. he announced his VP pick at 3am (zing)
2. he whines over every add in which he is depicted as not ready to lead. An opinion is not an attack add.
3. he too has gone negative
4. the Obama-truther we will not be swift-boated site is ridiculous, you cannot spin on a site that is dedicated to exposing spin
Obama’s smug Euro-trash tour hurt him
Obama’s negative-gotchya ad’s run opposite his earlier positive message. It hurts him more than it hurts McCain
Biden is a retarted choice, Obama showed his smallness with this move. If his post-gender blah blah was for real he would have picked a woman, and the smart choice was Hillary.
The Republican’s are idiots. The Democrats hate being outdone in this arena
“Mark Warner turned out to be a party hack.”
Why do you say this ?
Dan,
1. Equating progress with your party doing better is hackage.
2. claiming to be a business who gets it, and then raising taxes and folding to your special interests is hackage
3. he was against the car tax after he was for it
4. he was against banning parole before he was for it
5. he was a lib in his 1996 Senate bid, he did a chameleon act and turned into a gun toting rootin tootin conservative in he run for ‘guvner’
3,4 and 5 are hackage
What concerned me with the quote was the context: Warner “reached out to both parties” and crafted a budget and policy that made VA “the best run state in the nation”.
Who the hell will know different?
CNN report on the anniversary of the Minnesota bridge collapse showed breakdown of federal transportation money usage by state: Virginia spent the majority of its money, approximately 40% of it, on horse trails.
The “best run state in the nation” has a transportation crisis that will not be fixed FIRST with trails of any kind, and it is affecting our economy.
Between special interests and antebellum priorities, the last thing the country needs is a Virginia model.
But I think the national Dems have even Virginia beat on lunacy.
So are you “Virginia-is-no-good”-ers leaving the state after “hack” Warner becomes our senator?
Lovisa,
Only libs threaten to run away from home, or hold their breath, or throw a tizzy on the floor when the guy they do not support gets elected. As for Virginia, it is a great place. That a scoundrel like Warner is allowed to frequent these parts only shows into every life a little rain must fall.
There you go again Lovisa, going ff half-cocked, making very outrageous comments and attributing them to others.
For me, I believe that the upcoming senatorial election is a win-win for us. While Mark Warner and I are not in lock step on the all issues, he is an upgrade from John Warner.
Jacob,
“1. Equating progress with your party doing better is hackage.”
This is called being a politician
“2. claiming to be a business who gets it, and then raising taxes and folding to your special interests is hackage”
Reminds me of the parable “but you knew I was a snake when you picked me up. The tax increase I lay at the feet of the Republicans in the General Assembly. This was the turn to the dark side for the VA GOP.
“3. he was against the car tax after he was for it
4. he was against banning parole before he was for it
I can’t speak to these points as they transpired before my return to VA.
“5. he was a lib in his 1996 Senate bid, he did a chameleon act and turned into a gun toting rootin tootin conservative in he run for ‘guvner’ ”
Guess he learned something from that loss, didn’t he ?
dan
What have I said that’s “very outrageous”, and to whom have I attributed them (comments)?
suburbanite said: “…the last thing this country needs is a Virginia model.” His last sentence comments on the “lunacy” of Dems and Virginia.
What’s so half-cocked and outrageous about MY comment?
Lovisa, I’ve lived here all my life and see no reason to leave now.
I see a BIG reason to go to zero-based budgeting from bottom to top and back again.
The polls and reports on which Virginia is listed as a “model” are prepared by the same lobbying groups and government committees that feed off of our taxes.
Loudoun is the “richest” county in America, but only because we have a grossly skewed median. It doesn’t mean average people can afford to live here. It doesn’t mean they can get to work efficiently when passing through. It doesn’t mean businesses want to come here.
Meanwhile, the government-supported multicultrual committees in the county have produced a run on “multicultural crayons” for kindergartners, so that children will have a “realistic skintone palette” to choose from when coloring. The three Rs no longer mean core subjects, but “Reduce, Reuse, Recycle”.
How much pork could we cut, and make Virginia a TRUE model, if we got rid of the expensive crap that is funded in perpetuity because we “hope” it will make us all feel better?
“So are you “Virginia-is-no-good”-ers “
Dan,
“Some in Virginia feel that so goes Loudoun, so goes Virginia. If true, the spotlight will be on the LCRC big time to bring Loudoun home for John McCain.”
Now I know better but I’m going to ask anyway. Was this an inference that Jacob should get off his couch-potato(e) butt and join the LCRC? I think that if he really felt that he was backing McCain’t he might explode.
NoVisa,
“So are you “Virginia-is-no-good”-ers leaving the state after “hack” Warner becomes our senator?”
One thing us true (not transplanted) Virginians realize that the only way to keep the state intact with its real conservatives roots is to make it unbearable for liberal whacks to live here. You don’t live here then you don’t vote here. So when is moving day for you? I’ll bring cookies.
ACT- you mean moderate roots don’t you ?
ACT, no, not to jacob. But where has the LCRC been, and when are they going to start working for their candidate ?
Dan,
moderates are mulch for liberals. They provide cover and nutrients. Conservatives are the required fungicide needed to remove the liberal infestation.
hey
“Where the duce have you been?”
India
yeah, governor of texas and a business leader. As I recall, texas dropped toward the bottom of a number of state rankings under bush’s watch, and his business folded. yeah he had experience; in failing. and with the help of those on the right he took that experience all the way to washington! and NOW you’re concerned with experience. I guess I should be glad that you guys are learning from your mistakes! ha!
What business folded, and what rankings SPaMM ?
jacob, Wow, that’s deep dude.. Actually, it is the conservatives and the liberals that have the symbiotic relationship, without one, the other is pointless..
Marshmallow,
India! Kewel. Where in India?
“texas dropped toward the bottom of a number of state rankings under bush’s watch,”
That is news, I wonder how he gor REelected.
“and his business folded.”
The Oil business did fail, most do, its a risky business. Come to think of it, do you know what percentage of all starts-up fail?
“yeah he had experience; in failing”
The real world beats politics any day.
“NOW you’re concerned with experience. I guess I should be glad that you guys are learning from your mistakes! ha!”
I do learn from my mistakes. Considering that Bush IS an idiot, he was blessed with two opponents who had lower grades than he did. So what does make the people who keep nominating guys who are even less fit than the likes of Bush and McCain. Care to answer that bub?
Dan,
As usual you lack of scientific training leads you to erroneous conclusions.
Moderates are akin to a substance with a neutral PH. Bland like water. Fungus likes water. Conservatives are more volatile, like alcohol. Alcohol kills Fungus.
I hope this clears you sadly addled mind. I recommend you go drink some alcohol, try beer.
According to one wise sage alcohol kills brain cells. As in the wild, it is the weak and old that die first. Leaving the strong to carry on. Drinking bear will therefore only leave your strongest brain cells alive.
Conservatives, like alcohol, cause only the strongest ideas to carry on. Unfortunately, moderates, like water dilute alcohol. Enough water and the fungus takes root.
Hope you paid attention.
Jacob,
“Moderates are akin to a substance with a neutral PH. Bland like water.”
I believe you mean like water, covering the majority of the Earth’s surface like water. Also the most basic component for sustaining life.
“Conservatives are more volatile, like alcohol. Alcohol kills Fungus.”
More acidic you mean ? Know any conservatives I can rub between my toes ?
Dan,
You make more sense after you have had some beer.
As for the subtance that covers the 2/3’s of the globe it is not bland it is called salt water. Some old Sailors are referred to as salty. Salt water is not bland. Salft waters kill most fungus. Moderates are bland, moderates are not represented by salt water.
You go drink some beer. Strengthen the herd.
Super scientific discourse going on here.
BTW, Obama is now, officially, the Democratic candidate for the presidency of the United States of America.
jacob, What you said :
“Moderates are akin to a substance with a neutral PH.”
Sea water is pretty close to neutral, well within the PH variance of fresh water, and more neutral than rain water. I would think that with your scientific training you would know this.
Good idea, think I shall.. What are you drinking now, some decent brew, or PBR, the choice of discerning conservatives everywhere ?
Are you sure, dan and jacob, that your brains aren’t sloshing around in your skulls, saline or non-saline?
Quite sure..
“BTW, Obama is now, officially, the Democratic candidate for the presidency of the United States of America.”
Congratulations, MoveOn and George Soros have now bought their own political party.
Jacob,
“Moderates are bland, moderates are not represented by salt water.”
Evian?
Dan,
I like your comment #1. I have asked weeks ago and can’t get anyone to pony up. Let’s do it. Maybe you can ask Jacob to come. I think he is ignoring me again. I DID offer to take him out to shoot and drink AFTER voting. I think it was the voting part he couldn’t handle.
NoVisa,
“BTW, Obama is now, officially, the Democratic candidate for the presidency of the United States of America.”
I am so happy you got your wish. I want nothing but the best for you. McCain’t would make a lousy Carter anyway.
ACT,
Sorry I thought I responded!
You and Dan have both had the same capital idea! Go vote early, then go shoot something. Then drink beer and pray for the health of this country, because we are in for a bad trip these next four years. Lord help us!!
Congratulations, MoveOn and George Soros have now bought their own political party.
Right you are Dan !
They managed to purchase and ram through a candidate to the left of Hillary Clinton. The Democrat party is now an absolute lost cause. When Hillary Clinton is not left enough and she is plenty left, the party is gone.
ACT,
Doesn’t sound like jacob is interested.
As for McCain, I agree with Clinton’s recent candidate x and candidate y comments. I believe it will be a close election, but bottom line, I did not hear anything tonight that I did not hear from McGovern, Dukakis, Gore or Kerry. Too much of the same, everything for everyone and all paid for by the rich and corporate America that doesn’t add up..
ACT, Dan,
I AM interested. It will be the bright spot on that dark day.
ACT,
try Evian spelled backwards.
“I AM interested”
Cool, looking forward to it.
” It will be the bright spot on that dark day.”
Cheer up man, you’re starting to sound like Marvin from Hitchhiker’s Guide..
On a more up note, guess this song :
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LbkNxYaULBw
I actually figured it out. Very Kewel
