Obama’s Muslim Faith

It’s a strange verbal slip to make, isn’t it?

What I mean is, if you are talking about your “faith” giving it the wrong name does not exactly roll off the tongue.

Like for instance this afternoon, even if I was dog tired, I cannot imagine myself saying “I am psyched to see the Redskins win today.” It ain’t gonna ever come from my mouth because it is part of the core of my being that the Cowboys are supposed to triumph over the Redskins.

So how does someone accidentally label their faith wrongly?

UPDATE: This has brought up some new, possibly better, discussion items. See the new post at the top of the page.

It’s hard to know whether you are so desperate to help John McCain win that you are willing to lie, or if you are just willfully ignorant. Here is the whole exchange in context.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VtI6ixXjf1g

He is talking about the lies of McCain supporters who suggest he is Muslim when he says “my Muslim faith” which is clearly in quotes and not his own statement and in the part you cut out afterwards he explains, “Well what I’m saying is he has suggested I’m a Muslim.”

It would be like you saying, “Zimzo constantly refers to my stupidity.”

I know it is difficult for you guys to win without resorting to lying but have at least a modicum of self-respect since apparently John McCain has lost his.

  2. el jefe says:

say it ain’t so joe…are you bringing up the muslim rumor?

  3. dans says:

I have to agree with the above on this one. Unless this can be further substantiated this should go away. If not, cred is lost on those issues that can be substantiated.

  4. Cathymac says:

If anything the interview shows that Obama does not explain things very well, the Muslim angle is dead as far as I see it.

  5. jacob says:

    Joe,
I you are posting this because you are airing a question, okey dokey. If you are posting this because you think Obama is a closet Muslim I think you are dead wrong.

Have you not ever heard of a Freudian Slip. The guy has been subject to rumors about his Muslim-ness for some time now. I am not surprised it happened.

I still think Obama will be the 2nd coming of Carter, not Mohamed. Stop it, you are forcing me to take sides with Zimzo. This is causing what is referred to as a cognitive dissonance.

  6. joe six-pack says:

While I do not believe that Senator Obama is a Muslim, he does correct himself when prompted by the interviewer. He intended to say his Christian faith.

Too many people are calling the other side liars. Be careful here. The other side can then be seen as being more dangerous an any external enemy. This is more of a threat to our country than what the other side represents, Democrat or Republican.

  7. Touchy, touchy! My goodness, I still think it is a strange verbal slip, Freudian or not.

Here’s an interesting follow up question: Why does the Obama campaign and its supporters deny the accusation that Obama is or was a Muslim, with the same vigor they’d deny he is a child molester? What is so bad about being a Muslim? That would be an interesting question to address – maybe it should have been the topic of this post.

  8. zimzo says:

The real question is: why do those attacking Obama make the accusation with the same vigor as they would use to accuse someone of being a child molester? Obama has not reacted that way and he certainly does not in the full clip I posted. Once again you are making things up and it makes you look desperate.

Another question might be, why do you, Joe, continue to flog this dead horse?

  9. Mark says:

if Hussein Obama was a christian for the last 20 years, what was he for the first 29?

  10. Mark says:

Do we really want to give our nukes to the people that we are trying hard NOT to give them to? Check out who paid for Obama’s college education and house. It’s the very people we are fighting against. WHY CAN’T YOU SEE IT!!! Stop listening to words and look at actions. people can say anything they want. Look at his neighborhood in chicago and see what he didn,t do for them.

  11. dans says:

““I am psyched to see the Redskins win today.”

Joe, we all know this is what you were really thinking..

Thanks for the premonition. Do me a favor, please picture me winning the next Powerball lotto..

  12. Marjorie says:

    Hey Mark,

Save you breath, While I agree with you; no one likes to listens when you are direct.

Unless you can BS and know the people on this blog, your pretty much ignored when being direct as you wrote.

I mentioned the Obama slip on the following article:
With Friends Like These … Part II
    September 6th, 2008 by Shiplap
    on this blog site.

That was 22 days ago. I guess it only matters when your name is Joe.

  13. Sure, right… Obama’s Muslim. Makes a lot of sense.

The McCain camp isn’t letting proof of this fact slip to reporters. They’re just that honorable.

Btw, I don’t recall his name, but we do have one Muslim in Congress. It’s widely known, I’m sure you can google it. And he hasn’t blown anything up so far.

  14. el jefe says:

    is mccain really a Christian?

  15. joe six-pack says:

A congressman from Minnesota took a symbolic oath of office over the Koran after the last general election. I opposed this because in our law, the written document overrides the verbal.

In general, the Koran is hostile to our government, our constitution, and our way of life. Yes, the Koran has good parts. An overall problem with the Koran is that it contains a large “Dark Side”, particullarly regarding foreign policy.

  16. joe says:

There is a new post on the front page now, which hopefully will reframe the issue in a manner that we all can agree with.

  17. [...] over from this morning’s post: Boy, this topic just riles EVERYONE [...]

  18. Marjorie says:

    Hey Joe,

First off I’d like to apologize for my smart assed comment.

    I am sorry.

Second, if we leave Obama’s Muslim faith out of a conversation I am sure that all of us can find a legit reason as to why this man is not fit to be our next commander in chief.

So I purpose we discuss why he is unfit and leave his Muslim devotion alone for a while.

  19. Mr. Whiskers says:

    Marjoram,
Whatever you do, DO NOT leave his Muslim devotion alone! Your cause is MUCH too important! Joe was serving you a softball pitch, this is your chance to knock it out of the park! This is a REAL ISSUE that hardly anybody knows anything about.

  20. Marjorie says:

    Hey thanks Mr Whiskers,

As you say Joe was serving a soft ball pitch, but I could have handled my comment
in a more adult manner instead of being childish. Thus my apology.

You are also correct on the issue of Obama’s Muslim Faith.
