SPMM,

Just to let you know, teachers are NOT allowed to use the platform of the school for anything related to promoting one candidate or the other. In Loudoun, you can be fired for doing so--it isn't about freedom of speech, it is about not using the government's coin in any way shape or form to promote a candidate.

As to do I believe that McCain/Palin have a clue, McCain is the only senator running that introduced legislation 2 years ago to curb Fannie/Freddie. Obama at the time was taking too much money from them to want to regulate them. (Obama is second in F/F contributions only to Dunn ... if you *can* look someone straight in the eye and say that does not disqualify him, then you are either fooling yourself or making a lame attempt to fool others.)

Do I think O/B are capable? The guy who has two years of senate duty, does not introduce a single regulatory bill for F/F, has the gall to choose a plagiarist (i.e., liar) for a running mate ... his voting record says one thing and his mouth says another. Those are the people I hope the truth comes out about. You really don't think they knew what was happening in Kansas? Okay, suppose they didn't. What does that say about their leadership in something as small as a campaign rather than a country?

Jimmy Carter made a better president than either of them could ... he was at least honorable, if inept. Nixon was a crook, but he got us out of Vietnam. O/B I trust as little as Nixon, and believe they have less ability than Carter.

I am a slut, but not ignorant, you butt head. As for all those may require orthodontic work on their pronounced incisors, while in a state of being rotting undead, amidst their vitriol there are more then a few truths that are often ignored.

Jacob, you ignorant slut! You and I can at least respect each other's opinions from time to time. The rest of your bucktoothed goons are simply robot megaphone mouthpieces, running frantically to and fro, shouting for the fall of society and our economy, vomiting venemous vitriol all over their common man. What a bunch of putrified zombies.

Kevin,
- You are a butt head.
There. That was an ad hominem attack.

- You are wrong on many social issues, and therefore could be a butt head.
While it was insulting and crude, that was NOT an ad hominem attack.

- You are just plain wrong on many social and political issues.
This is not an ad hominem nor is it insulting, we just disagree.

Marshmallow,
"I opened a new bank account about a year ago to put my student loan, and the guy behind the counter tried to talk me into considering buying a house! That’s the kind of predatory lending, combined with all this repackaging and reselling of debt, that’s created this systemic problem."
I had some silly woman try to get me to invest my money in the stock market instead of putting it in savings, as if ANY money in savings was a mistake. I told her no, and even held my breath as she told me I was making a mistake. I don't wrestle with pigs.

Was her behavior predatory? Yes, according to you. No, according to me. She was selling something. Since the rules in the banking industry were tossed in 1999, I view bankers in the same light I view car salesmen. She was an ass, but it was here job. caveat emptor dude.

Banks have been making 20 cents per dollar of investment that last few years. That is a return one would expect from a high risk enterprise.

"When liberals lose arguments (a common occurrence) they resort to ad hominem attacks." This site must be full of liberals then, that's all I see here lately from y'all.

John McCain must be a liberal. Sarah Palin too!

One more thing, Stay Puft. I apologize if my jokes about Detroit were too cutting. I'll try to be more gentle. It's just that sometimes I get so pissed off about Detroit that I'd like to bulldoze the place and start all over.

Stay Puft, you don't get away with that. Your home state is also my home state (hence my blog handle), and I'll feel free to take whacks at it where they are deserved.

The reason I'm down on Detroit in particular is that D-town has been principally responsible for turning good old Michigan into a new variety of electoral "slave state." In election after election, the people in the rest of that great state are "enslaved" politically by the robot Democrat voters in Detroit Metro and certain other cities, e.g. Flint, Pontiac. These robot voters are largely African-American (let this old "fringe" White guy introduce you someday to a couple of my dearly loved grandchildren who have a healthy dose of Black blood -- others are Hispanic); many union members of any color (I come from a UAW family -- can't get more Michigander than that); and the radical crowds in Ann Arbor and East Lansing.

You chide McCain for pulling out of the contest in our mutual home state? You darn well know the answer. Unless you happen to be a phenom like Ronald Reagan, it has become almost impossible these days to overcome the advantage the Dems get from the robot voters. Given the figures I've seen on the national percentage of African-Americans intending to vote for Obama, McCain's chances this year would appear to be even lower than normal.

Other reasons why I smack D-town around? That once great town has become a national joke and an embarrassment for every other Michigander. Crime at astronomical levels. A mayor about to wind up in the slammer for corruption. Yeah, sure, they built Cobo and redid the waterfront. In my opinion, that was like putting a new dress on an old whore.

Unlike most other major U.S. cities, when is the last time you heard someone say they'd like to go to Detroit for a pleasant and exciting weekend? Most Michiganders I know avoid the place like the plague, only slipping in once in awhile for a ball game at Comerica Park and then heading for the exits as fast as they can go.

You and I know full well that there are a lot of good people in Detroit who have suffered too long from crime, poor education, and a generally lousy quality of life. Yet, this is a long-time Democrat Party stronghold. So what have the Dems done lately for these people? Crap. And yet these voters still go like robots to the polls and pull the Dem lever. Can't understand it. How many times do you have to be hit over the head before you start seeking alternative possibilities for bettering your life?

The "War on Poverty" initiated by LBJ, as well-intentioned as it was, really helped a whole lot, serving inter alia to severely damage the Black family, which has long been one of the great cultural mainstays of American life. Now you want Obama to set up a complete nanny state? Been there. Tried that. Time for something else.

"Considering we live in a free society and not under some dictatorial regime...."

Not yet, anyway. Under the guise of getting us out of this disaster the left has foisted on us, the government is going to take more and more of our freedoms.

Lets think of all the freedom loving junta's that have children singing songs in praise of their great leader: Soviet Russia, Cuba, China, North Korea, Mugabe's Zimbabwe, Saddam's Iraq.

Obama is not the problem here. It's the sickos who support him. Brain washing kids to glorify a political figure is disturbed. Considering we live in a free society and not under some dictatorial regime, I find this entire media driven cult of personality to be pathetic.

The liberals' separation of risk from reward -- the lenders sell the loan, and get the profit of making it, and the taxpayers' take the risk through Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac -- certainly had a hand in this mess. That is EXACTLY what those companies were set up to do, so that more poor people could get loans they could not afford.

"You want to say that Clinton’s policies set up this situation, and that wise old McCain say it coming?"

Exactly.

"until 2 years ago, republicans controlled congress for 12 years"

But not a filibuster-proof Senate -- and that is where the bills were stopped.

> can you explain to me why in less two weeks,
> McCain went from “the economy is fine” to
> “I’m suspending my campaign because the
> economy is in so much trouble and I’m
> putting country first” to “I’m going to talk
> about Obama’s minister again even though the
> Dow just fell another 500 points”

1) California's land is stable, too. Sorry, puffalump. McCain predicted that the earthquake was threatened. He could not predict the exact day that it would strike.

2) As a leader in the Senate, which O'Bama is not, and as someone who has for years forged compromises between the two parties, which O'Bama has not, McCain was right to go back to Washington.

3) Because in these times, with two wars and an economic crisis, we need someone with character. O'Bama's associations with Ayers did not happen when O'Bama was 8. Ayers is unrepentant, so he may as well have committed his crimes yesterday.

As for Palin, O'Bama comes off almost as bad, and has even less experience, yet he is at the TOP of the Democrat ticket. He was THE MOST INEXPERIENCED CANDIDATE in the entire Democrat field!

"Oh, baby, you are so talented. And they are so DUMB." -- Sheriff Bart

Tell me, puffalump, what do you see in O'Bama? What has he DONE, besides block a bill protecting children of botched abortions? Has he ever changed anything besides his underwear?

> can you explain to me why in less two weeks,
> McCain went from “the economy is fine” to
> “I’m suspending my campaign because the
> economy is in so much trouble and I’m
> putting country first” to “I’m going to talk
> about Obama’s minister again even though the
> Dow just fell another 500 points”

1) California’s land is stable, too. Sorry, puffalump. McCain predicted that the earthquake was threatened. He could not predict the exact day that it would strike.

2) As a leader in the Senate, which O’Bama is not, and as someone who has for years forged compromises between the two parties, which O’Bama has not, McCain was right to go back to Washington.

3) Because in these times, with two wars and an economic crisis, we need someone with character. O’Bama’s associations with Ayers did not happen when O’Bama was 8. Ayers is unrepentant, so he may as well have committed his crimes yesterday.

As for Palin, O’Bama comes off almost as bad, and has even less experience, yet he is at the TOP of the Democrat ticket. He was THE MOST INEXPERIENCED CANDIDATE in the entire Democrat field!

“Oh, baby, you are so talented. And they are so DUMB.” — Sheriff Bart

Tell me, puffalump, what do you see in O’Bama? What has he DONE, besides block a bill protecting children of botched abortions? Has he ever changed anything besides his underwear?

Jack, I've been asking someone to explain the logic of the McCain campaign to me for days, and every time I get a "your heads up your ass" or someone knocking my home state.

I opened a new bank account about a year ago to put my student loan, and the guy behind the counter tried to talk me into considering buying a house! That's the kind of predatory lending, combined with all this repackaging and reselling of debt, that's created this systemic problem. Not the Janet Reno's handling of the branch davidians. for 6 of those years. You want to say that Clinton's policies set up this situation, and that wise old McCain say it coming? until 2 years ago, republicans controlled congress for 12 years, and had a rep pres. If you want someone to blame, explain how it isn't the republicans fault. you want me to believe that the dems have had more influence on policy in the past two years than the republicans had over the 12 preceding, plus having a rep. pres? come on. the reps treat the free market like nero treats a fire in rome.

now, you want to talk about fuzzy logic, can you explain why the reps are airing two commercials at the same time, with one blaming Obama for the baleout and one praising McCain's leadership in getting the bailout to pass? Can you explain how Palin criticized Biden for only thinking about the past when he mentioned unpopular issues that McCain agreed with Bush on, and than a few days later she brings up something that happened when Obama was 8?

can you explain to me why in less two weeks, McCain went from "the economy is fine" to "I'm suspending my campaign because the economy is in so much trouble and I'm putting country first" to "I'm going to talk about Obama's minister again even though the Dow just fell another 500 points"

can you explain what people see in Palin, when all we know is that she's alright at delivering hyper-scripted messages, and comes across as, well, a little dim in her other appearances.

I'm not asking for "your head's up your ass" or "your community is infested with Muslims" or any other bullshit, because honestly I'm seeing enough of that from the McCain campaign as it is. I'm asking you, as a conservative, can you look me in the eye as it were, and tell me you think these guys (McCain, Palin, and their team) really know what they're doing. Can you do that?

Act, "wolverine", I'm only happy that you represent the fringe of the fringe. your previous comments speak for themselves, and they say that you are bigots. You can act all immune to the fact, nevertheless it is a fact. I don't have anything else to say to you.

When liberals lose arguments (a common occurrence) they resort to ad hominem attacks.

Anyone who thinks indoctrination children like this is "free speech" has a mental disorder.
