Where did you find this! This is so YOU, jack.

  2. jack says:

We made it. I just changed the link to go to the page where we have a couple other things. I did the “Vote Character Not Color” bumperstickers, E. did the “Relax, God Wears a Large” T-shirts.

  3. Lovisa says:

How many of Congress were lawyers in their earlier lives, I wonder?

  4. Ben Dover says:

While I concur with the overall sentiment, I’m reminded of another congressional light-weight (and lawyer) who ran for high office: Abraham Lincoln.

  5. Jack says:

Yup, he got us into a real nasty war, didn’t he?

  6. Jack says:

Oh, yeah, he also suspended habeas corpus, and instituted an income tax that was later declared unconstitutional.

  7. Cathymac says:

This is for all the 2A folks, hold on to your guns.

Posting this here because I don’t know where to post, hopefully Zimzo won’t get his panties in a bunch.

  8. Ben Dover says:

“Yup, he got us into a real nasty war, didn’t he?” & “Oh, yeah, he also suspended habeas corpus, and instituted an income tax that was later declared unconstitutional.”

Yup and Yup. Yup, he did a whole bunch of other stuff too, and speaking of stuff (or stuffing), don’t forget his Thanksgiving Day proclamation.

  9. el jefe the student says:

barack would be head of the executive branch. also, fdr, madison, clinton, wilson, jefferson, adams were all lawyers. george bush, not a lawyer.

  10. Jack says:

So your contention is we should get him out of the legislative branch, where you think he could do more damage. I agree, but there is no need to promote him to the level of his incompetency to get him out of the Senate.

Also, we seem not to have had a decent lawyer-president in nearly 100 years, and Wilson, obviously, was saved by his being home-schooled and born in Virginia. :-)

  11. el jefe the student says:

barack should be promoted immediately. wilson had many strengths but they are almost erased by the fact his degree was from uva. looking at that list it seems that our greatest presidents were lawyers. if obama actually wins (i’m not optimistic it’s going to happen), you will probably see him on that list.

and “vote character, not color”, that sounds pro-obama, are you starting to come around? or is that repubs redefied character since clinton? only one major candidate hasn’t had an affair. if you want a qualin/mccain sticker, it should say “vote out of fear, not reason”

  12. dans says:

Jefferson was a lawyer for 8 years, and an architect for many more. He was once described by Frank Lloyd Wright “If the top ten American architects were gathered around a table, two of them would be Thomas Jefferson”.

    Jefferson was an architect
    Washington was a soldier
    Teddy Roosevelt was a soldier
    JFK was a soldier
    Grant was a soldier
    Eisenhower was a soldier
    Hayes was a soldier
    Garfield was a soldier
    Arthur was a soldier
    Harrison was a soldier
    Jackson was a soldier

    McCain was a soldier.

Isn’t it odd that none of our presidents were community organizers ?

  13. el jefe the student says:

    several were slave owners…times change.

  14. jack says:

Are you saying we should make being a rabble-rouser, uh, “community organizer” illegal?

  15. jack says:

So, el jefe, can you give us any good reason to vote for 0bama? Does he actually have any accomplishments whatsoever?

  16. dans says:

Sounds like el jefe is voting for Obama so he can feel secure in his belief that he’s not a racist.

I suspect some of this is the “some of my best friends are black” of the new millennium..

  17. zimzo says:

It always comes back to race for you guys, doesn’t it?

  18. jack says:

I suspect many leftists voted for 0bama in the primaries for just that reason.

  19. jack says:

That IS all 0bama has to run on.

  20. dans says:

actually mizmo, el jefe brought race up..

Actually what I brought up was something I learned in Psych 101.. You took my remark out of context :)

  21. el jefe the student says:

i didn’t bring up race, we were talking about past presidents. talk about hypersensitivity and a leap in logic, but it did get a rise. what i was saying is what work someone does prior to becoming president is changing with time, and my guess is that more ‘organizer’ politicians are going to be running in both parties.

and the more i think about it, you could make a case that the founder fathers were rabble rousers or community organizers, so he may not be the first if he does manage to win.

and jack, i think your claims are more bizarre as this election continues; race issue is all obama has to run on? if obama does win he will need millions of white, latino, asian, etc., votes; more white votes than african american votes. it would be more accurate to say race is all mccain has to run on, and it would still be a stupid claim. the reasons for obama’s popularity among dems, and this election, is similar to qualin’s among repubs, young, charasmatic, and a change from the two-term presidents, not because of gender or race.

  22. jack says:

Except that Gov. Palin actually has some EXPERIENCE.

  23. dans says:

So when you mentioned slave owners, you were talking about Egypt and Jews eh ?

  24. jacob says:

    el-jefe,
you deny you were bringing up race after you mention slave owner? You have earned a Stoneism — your head is up your ass

  25. jacob says:

    Dans,
Lincoln served as a soldier in the Black-Hawk war
Truman served in the artillery WWI
    JFK was a sailor

Not a single ‘community organizer’ in the bunch.

  26. jack says:

Let us not forget that both Bush’s were also pilots. Even Reagan volunteered, although he was too blind to serve in combat, he served as he was able:

    # He was commissioned as officer in the Army Reserve in 1935.
    # In November 1941, Reagan was called up but disqualified for combat duty because of his astigmatism.
    # After Pearl Harbor, he acted for the First Motion Picture Unit in the United States Army Air Forces.
    # He acted in training and education films.

  27. el jefe the student says:

i just stated a fact, how is that brining up race. all this from people that whine when they are criticized for mentioning barack’s middle name. i mean, you guys bringing up race or religion when you do that are you? you are hypersensitive folks, sort like sharpton.

and qualin has “some experience?” really, running wasilla? my goodness, it’s sad you are still holding onto that distinction. also, she has no military experience.

  28. jack says:

She’s a governor now. 0bama has done WHAT as a Senator?

  29. el jefe the student says:

“She’s a governor now.” she got elected gov 2 years ago, she hasn’t even been in office for 2 years. obama’s been a senator for longer. how does she have more experience, is this creationist math?

  30. El Jefe,

You brought this up … just what has Obama done in the Senate? What leadership has he shown? What legislation has he authored, co-authored, or even voted other than “present” upon?

You want to compare that to Palin? She ran the state.

You won’t find me giving a Clinton an upscale on nearly anything, but either one of the Clintons have more experience when they were running than what Obama has.

Show *any* leadership he has taken during his time as Senator. He hasn’t done *anything*.

  31. el jefe the student says:

i brought what up? experience, that was jack. you are claiming qualin is more experienced. she hasn’t even ran a state for two years and she went out on maternity leave during this time. i’ve said over and over again that experience isn’t that important. but claiming qualin is more experienced is hilarious.
