The Incredible Shrinking Middle Class

A staple of the Obama economic plan has been increased taxes on the “rich”, or those earning $250K or more, and providing tax cuts to 95% of Americans workers.

Joe Biden then told us “rich” was those making more than $150K a year :

Former Democratic presidential candidate Bill Richardson recently gave us yet another perspective on Obama’s “spread the wealth” plan :

The bar is getting awfully low on the definition of “rich” under Obama’s economic plan. As each day goes by, more and more hardworking middle class Americans are being told by Obama and his party that they too have silver spoons in their mouths. That they too are among America’s rich, and will pay more taxes.

I don’t believe this is the change that they need.

If just the minimal program changes are passed, according to the Obama plan, those of us who make below $75,000 per year will get to keep an additional %2,185.

    Now, for the McCain plan…

Oh, there is no McCain plan, just the hockeymom gimmick.

The worst part of this debacle is that we had a winner in Mitt Romney, but the doggone Religious Reich bigots were squeamish over his Mormon faith. The sooner Palin and her fringe dwelling xenophobes are kicked to the curb, the better.

Mitt Romney would have countered the Obama plan with a campaign of real solutions and an uplifting vision for America’s future, instead of the gimmicks and slime employed by McCain-Pain. Mitt is just one of MANY Men who we could have nominated out of the millions of highly talented leaders among the GOP ranks.

Want to win again? No more Palins and no more Religious Reich.

“The sooner Palin and her fringe dwelling xenophobes”

Xenophobes ? What are you talking about ?

Are you a xenophile ? More often than not, this is the root of these lame accusations.

Obama has a plan, like Stalin had a plan..

    J. Tyler Ballance, where did you get your numbers? What are you using as a reference. When using Senator Obama’s Tax Calculator widget, here’s what’s reported for three types of households:

    Income of 50-75,000 (single/no dependents): $500 savings under Obama’s plan, $0 under McCain’s plan

    Income of 50-75,000 (married/filing jointly, 2 dependents): $1000 savings under Obama’s plan, $645 savings under McCain’s plan

Income of 50-75,000 (head of household, 2 dependents): $500 savings under Obama’s plan, $270 under McCains plan

Are your calculations wrong, or is Senator Obama’s calculator not working?

If you’re an employee, when your employer’s taxes rise, will that impact you? If you eat, when food becomes more expensive because supplier’s taxes rise and they raise their prices to cover the increase, will your food bill go up? Those pennies you think you’re getting back on the front end will be squeezed out the back end.

Obama and Biden’s positions on coal plants, in their own words: “bankrupt them”

  8. dans says:

Rachelfriend, Like Fred Thompson said at the convention, unless you buy food, clothing, and energy, increased corporate taxes won’t affect you.

Indirect taxation by means of taxes being passed on to the consumer, is still taxation…

  9. zimzo says:

sally how did you miss this story about Obama’s love child? It could be the gamechanger.

  10. Lovisa says:

    Great Scott, zimzo!

I am SHOCKED. This is AWFUL, simply AWFUL.

    Was there a mother involved?

The upstanding Alaskan young man who has fathered a love child didn’t run away from his love child (as if children born in wedlock aren’t LOVE children!) so cheers for him!

  11. Rachelfriend says:

Dans, I used to think that supporters of Senator Obama did not understand that concept. In the last few months, I realize they actually do get it. They just don’t care. It doesn’t matter to them that the end result of implementing Senator Obama’s tax plan is that some Americans will be hurt. They just want him to win, and they somehow think they’ll be the lucky ones who will avoid the pain to come.

  12. bob F says:

well said – they just don’t care – it’s typical leftist elitist thinking. It’s just bizarre to me how anyone would vote for BO. He WILL raise taxes and drive us into a recession/depression. But they just want to WIN no mater what.

  13. sally says:

Attacks from the local trolls…hmmm…Guess Lovisa and Zimzo don’t like my links above! or listening to Obama’s voice saying people who make $97,000 a year are the “upper class” and should be taxed, or that Obama thinks coal is fine, but the technology he will support to mine coal will “bankrupt” the coal companies, and make electricity sky rocket…such support for the middle class…(NOT)

  14. sally says:

Now, Obama says $50,000 is rich–his own words — opposing the Bush tax cuts for the middle class (due to expire in his term.) So by allowing tax cuts to expire–that’s not technically raising taxes on the middle class in his view? Master of the BS….

sorry to post twice, put it in the wrong place the first time…

  15. dans says:

    “They just don’t care.”

Very likely. Maybe it’s the husband, or Mom and Dad that need to pay the extra freight, and these are the reasons they don’t care.

  16. Lovisa says:

Quotation from a paper written after the Spanish-American War of 1898 by William Graham Sumner, a professor of political and social science at Yale and one of the most influential Americans of his time:

“Whenever a voice was raised in behalf of deliberation and the recognized maxims of statesmanship, it was howled down in a storm of vituperation and cant. Everything was done to make us throw away sobriety of thought and calmness of judgment and to inflate all expressions with sensational epithets and turgid phrases.”

“Within a year it has become almost a doctrine with us that patriotism requires that we should hold our tongues…”

    Something to think about, indeed.

  17. ACTivist says:

    NoVisa,

“patriotism requires that we should hold our tongues…”

    Something to think about, indeed.

A true Democrat to the core. That is what the liberals and the Obama campaign are banking on: Silence is golden and if people keep the truth silent…..the U.S. loses. Oh, I thought patriotism was giving all your money to the gov’t. That from Lunch-pail Joe.

  18. Lovisa says:

    ACTivist:

You’re reading me wrong – skewing the message IOW.

What Sumner was saying is that many “patriots” find it unpatriotic to question the powers that be. Got it?

Silence in this case is NOT golden. Questioning, questioning, questioning must go on, or we will be putty in the hands of those in power. That’s what Sumner was saying.

Usually it’s the liberals who are the questioners and sometimes they are considered unpatriotic for doing so.

  19. ACTivist says:

    NoVisa,

I didn’t mis-understand; except the part “Usually it’s the liberals who are the questioners and sometimes they are considered unpatriotic for doing so.” Now I know liberals are always asking skewed questions and not of relivance to opposing minded viewpoints. Why they are considered unpatriotic is that they are againest the Constitution and don’t question those in their own party with such fervency–if they even question them at all, which is usually the case.

Here, I’ll spell it out for you. From Webster’s Encyclopedic dictionary copyright 1993:

patriot n. 1. a person who loves, supports, and defends his or her country and its interests with devotion.

    Got it?

  20. Lovisa says:

    ACTovist -

And in order to be “patriot n. 1, a person who loves, supports, and defends his or her country and its interest with devotion” one SHOULD question those in power.

A country cannot be run by the rule of “Father knows best”.
