The reasons for voting against Barack 0bama are legion, and known to all who read this blog.  I will not repeat them here.  Here I will detail why I am voting for John McCain.

John McCain is a hero in every sense of the word.  When his Vietnamese captors learned who he was — the son of an admiral and the grandson of an admiral — they offered to let him go.  He refused — the military policy is first-in-first-out — and was tortured for five years for that resolve.  If he seems stiff, it is because they broke his arms.  If his face looks funny, it is because they broke his jaw.  They could break everything but his will.  And for all that, it was Senator McCain who pushed to normalize relations with Vietnam.

We are in a time of crisis — we are in two wars, and our economy is in trouble.  We need a leader, and a unifier.  John McCain has been a leader of the Senate for many years now.  I do not say a leader in the Senate, but a leader of the Senate.  His name is on many bipartisan bills — McCain-Feingold, McCain-Kennedy, McCain-Lieberman, etc.

Of course I don’t agree with everything McCain has done, or every position he takes.  I am a conservative, and he is a moderate.  Anyone who tells you that he agrees with his candidate on every issue is either a liar or a malleable fool who takes whatever positions his candidate takes.

McCain is a proven leader, both in the Navy and in the Senate.  He takes tough stands that he believes are for the benefit of the nation.  McCain is the kind of president we need.
