The reasons for voting against Barack 0bama are legion, and known to all who read this blog. I will not repeat them here. Here I will detail why I am voting for John McCain.
John McCain is a hero in every sense of the word. When his Vietnamese captors learned who he was — the son of an admiral and the grandson of an admiral — they offered to let him go. He refused — the military policy is first-in-first-out — and was tortured for five years for that resolve. If he seems stiff, it is because they broke his arms. If his face looks funny, it is because they broke his jaw. They could break everything but his will. And for all that, it was Senator McCain who pushed to normalize relations with Vietnam.
We are in a time of crisis — we are in two wars, and our economy is in trouble. We need a leader, and a unifier. John McCain has been a leader of the Senate for many years now. I do not say a leader in the Senate, but a leader of the Senate. His name is on many bipartisan bills — McCain-Feingold, McCain-Kennedy, McCain-Lieberman, etc.
Of course I don’t agree with everything McCain has done, or every position he takes. I am a conservative, and he is a moderate. Anyone who tells you that he agrees with his candidate on every issue is either a liar or a malleable fool who takes whatever positions his candidate takes.
McCain is a proven leader, both in the Navy and in the Senate. He takes tough stands that he believes are for the benefit of the nation. McCain is the kind of president we need.
From another blog, but spot on:
BroBama IS from Chicago; a clean administration in Chicago is one that doesn’t leave their opponents body too close to the lake. Have you noticed there are no Acorn problems reported in Cook County? They have voter fraud down to a science–amateurs not needed.
Voter Fraud
Credit Card Fraud
Illegal Foreign donations
Phony charges of voter intimidation
Standard procedures for the DNC. The End justifies the Means. Ayatollah Hussein Obama’s Civilian Security Services will handle all complaints.

The self-righteous, idiotic, conservative 22% will never go away.
Neither will the unpleasant name-callers of the Left.
Compare the linked first copy of the Weather Underground Newspaper “Osawatomie” — you will see the “audaucity of hope” and many other words we have been hearing…and also look at how similar the Weather Underground Logo is to Obama’s logo…

The sheep will be fleeced–is that the change they want?
McCain is who he says he is, not like the frauds on the other

Sorry typo in the link. Here is the correct link, showing how dishonest the Obamas are:

You forgot that McCain means what he says, doesn’t lie, willing to correct his errors and change his thinking when issues are explained fully to him AND he picked Gov. Palin. And, no, I can’t side with him on all issues but at least he will listen and take heed and notice.
who else sees the irony in calling someone an “unpleasant name-callers” ?

WHO WOULD HAVE EVER THOUGHT@
Islamic Finance 101
Hosted by the
U.S. Department of Treasury
In association with the
Islamic Finance Project – Harvard Law School
November 6, 2008
1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
1500 Pennsylvania Avenue NW, Washington D.C
Seminar at the US Department of the Treasury:
“Islamic Finance 101”
November 6, 2008
1:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.
Department of Treasury, Washington DC
Purpose:
This forum is designed to help inform the policy community about Islamic financial
services, which are an increasingly important part of the global financial industry. The
Department of the Treasury, working with Harvard University’s Islamic Finance Project,
will host speakers from academia and industry to share information on the development
of Islamic finance, both in the United States and globally. The primary audience of this
seminar is comprised of staff from U.S. banking regulatory agencies, Congress,
Department of Treasury and other parts of the Executive Branch. For some in attendance,
this may be their first and only opportunity to learn formally about Islamic finance. We
expect about 100 people in the audience. The presentations will be short and focused,
directed toward policy makers rather than academics.
What exactly is wrong with this, Marjorie? Islamic banking is something that is pretty important to know about in the global economy:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Islamic_banking
Are you suggesting that we not do business with Islamic countries? What do you fill the gas tank of your car with?
nice zombie thing. that comparison of the weather underground and obama logo reminded me of that time when some muslims were pissed at burger king for mocking allah with their icecream package, or whatever the controversy was:
http://www.amren.com/mtnews/archives/2005/09/icecream.jpg
the similarity is uncanny. it can only mean one thing: conspiracy! I demand a recount!
Zimzo,
later rather than sooner and you will figure it out.
Stay Puft, you just don’t get it, do you? Some of us out here do not cotton to blog posts from any direction which include epithets like “self-righteous”, “idiotic”, “stupid”, “silly” or what have you. It doesn’t make a bit of difference where you are on the political spectrum. If you use insulting and degrading epithets as a replacement for intelligent, reasoned ripostes, you are by definition a “name caller” and you are most certainly “unpleasant.” Worst of all, you are serving to kill civilized debate.
So, instead of telling us about your perceptions of “irony”, answer this: Do you approve of JC’s use of the words “self-righteous” and “idiotic”? Did it advance the debate? Did it make anyone want to “reach across the aisle” to cooperate with JC on any issue? Will it help to preserve civility or might it just be the next step toward beating each other over the head with sticks in order to make a point?
Why don’t you explain it to me, Marjorie. Are you suggesting that we not do any business with Islamic countries? Are you planning to give up your car?
Stay Puft, thanks for the lead to that video. A light-hearted moment in an otherwise very bitter time.
zimzo.
perhaps you should look in shariah law and compliance, go ahead. learn and learn something.
does anyone else see the irony in someone going by “JC” calling someone else self-righteous?
hahahaha!
You haven’t answered my question, Marjorie. Why did you post that? Do you think we shouldn’t do business with Islamic countries? If we are going to do business with Islamic countries we have to understand their banking regulations which are quite complicated and are based on Islamic law. Is there something wrong with that?
Zimzo,
you don’t even answer my questions, so why don’t you do some research and then answer back, perhaps then we can have a real discussion rather than the dog chase the tail conversation.
Just as I thought, Marjorie. You had no idea why you posted that link from an anti-Arab hate site. The truth is that the Treasury department and every major investment bank in the country has experts in Islamic banking rules because they are quite complicated and anyone doing business with an Islamic country needs to know them. You thought there was something extraordinary about the Treasury dept. giving a seminar about Islamic banking rules when in fact it was no different than a seminar about banking regulations in the European Common Union. You just saw the word Islamic and freaked out.
hey, speaking of spreading the wealth, does anyone here want to put money on McCain winning? I’ll give you 4-1 odds!
There’s actually a British bookie sight where you can do it, but their odds aren’t so good. …more like 14-1
http://politics.betfair.com/
so, anyone want to put their money where their mouth is, so to speak?
Zimzo,
nice try,
however you do need to research the link between shariah law and compliance.
The announcement you posted from the Treasury department has nothing whatsoever to do with terrorism or imposing sharia law in the U.S. as the hate site you got it from implies. Islamic banking is a system of regulations that conforms with the Quran and has been in place since the 1970s but has roots going back to the 8th century, which is no different from regulations in any number of cultures from the European Common Union to Asia that conform to their cultures. It is important for Americans doing business in Islamic countries to be aware of those regulations. You clearly have no idea what you are talking about. You just read some misinformation on a hate site and posted it here without understanding what it is about. You can read about it here if you are interested in actually learning something about it, which I doubt:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Islamic_banking
Zimzo
once again you need to look further than wikipedia for information.
yes, i do know about sharia law and compliance
you however only look at one place and think it’s harmless to the United States. I highly recommend you expand your research other than a computer book learning tool.
For all of this bluster from the left, no-one has answer these simple questions:
1) Why are you voting for 0bama?
2) What has 0bama run that gives you the confidence that he can run the country?
Puffalump,
Very recently, you have started with the “hahahahahaha.” It is rather creepy, and not typical of your earlier posts.
What’s that about, anyway?
I’ve actually studied Islamic banking rules. The Wikipedia article was for you, Marjorie since, as usual, you don’t know what you’re talking about.
I answered your questions, Jack, earlier in this thread.
I’ve answered those questions, you must not have been paying attention, which could also explain your support for McCain!
What has McCain “run”? Sure he’s led, but if it’s executive experience you’re getting at, what does he have? More time? What did Lincoln run, aside from a general store?
now answer me this question: do you want to put some cash on this election? You’d make a killing if McCain wins, let me tell you!
Betting on an election? That sounds like a real blast.
why not? It’ll make watching Fox news interesting again! check it out:
http://politics.betfair.com/
McCain’s got like 14-1 odds against. If you know something all the pollsters don’t, if you’re convinced he can pull this off, why not make a buck on the side? Put $1000 on McCain, and by wednesday it’ll be $14,000! Why would you not?
what’s wrong Jack? I thought you guys were in high spirits. Anyway, it’s nice to know you’re paying such close attention to my posts! I love you, too!
…it’s meant to represent “laughter” which is something that only liberals are capable of I guess because it’s linked to thinks like “emotions” and “having a sense of humor,” which allows me to “laugh” at some of the “funnier” things that people say on this blog. I’ve been “laughing” for years, but maybe you guys have just gotten funnier recently!
Perhaps one day you’ll be able to experience it too, but please god not tomorrow!!!
hahahaha
Damn, well when you explain it that way I must slap myself on the forehead and ask “Why would I not indeed!” Good god, man I could have been laying side bets all the way through!
But alas keeping the ammo cans full takes just about all of my extra coin.
Jack, this is the first time in three years that Stay Puft has had any stake in any of the stuff we’ve been writing and arguing about here. Up till the presidential election it’s all been VA stuff. Now that it’s a topic where he has skin in the game it’s normal he would be more animated.
that’s ok, you can bet state by state if you like
Zimzo,
dog chaseing it’s tail here. will you stop.
If you knew anything at all about shariah banking and shariah law you would not want to have it here in America.
That’s the point, Marjorie. We are not going to have shariah law in the U.S. and the fact that the Treasury department is giving a seminar to educate Americans on banking rules in Islamic cultures does not mean our banks are going to adopt shariah law as you fear. Stop scaring yourself by reading fear-mongering hate sites that spew misleading information, which is making you scared of your own shadow, and you will feel a lot better.
Zimzo,
better take a close look at England. While your thinking about it also think about one word
Hitler used “CHANGE”
Don’t you think that our government is being extremely quiet about this conference. That it comes just 2 days after the election and soon after the 700 billion bailout. which by the way is just pennies to whats ahead.
I have followed Islamic banking for 2 years around the world. it is not what America and Americans want here.
I know what it represents, puffy. It’s just not your usual fare, and it’s rather weird. It sounds like you’re getting maniacal on us. You used to be the somewhat rational liberal with which one could have a conversation. In the last month, though, you have become more like zimzo — but, as I say, more maniacal than raving.
Will I bet? No. I make only two bets every year — in good years three. You see, I am an Eagles fan, while Jacob is a Giants fan. Every year, we bet on those games. If the Eagles win, I buy him lunch, and if the Giants win, he buys me lunch. Sort of a consolation prize, as it were.
If you really want, we can do the same for this election: If 0bama wins, you buy me a consolation lunch (or a gloating lunch, if you like), and if McCain wins, I’ll buy you a consolation lunch.
That’s a very good suggestion, Jack. That’s a bet I would do.
Actually many of us our betting our investment portfolios on the outcome of this election. This is my skin in the game, you SPaMM ?
