joe, I thought it was way cool for you to post this. We hear too much about athletes when they do something bad, and not enough when they do something good.

Earth to Lovisa: Writing a blog post about something is NOT making a "big deal" about it. A point of having a blog is building traffic and if you don't post new material, people stop coming by. Consequently some bloggers, such as I, post all sorts of stuff depending on mood and what I happen across. If I only posted items I thought were truly important, there would be one new post every four days, and we would be back down to 40 visits a day. So in the interest of fresh content, I often - nay USUALLY - post material that I am aware only 5 or ten percent of our readers will find interesting or enjoyable, but that's ok and better than nothing, and I hope it hits different segments of the visitors.

And because I value my time, I have determined that I will only do this as long as it is fun, which means entertaining to me, so whatever I write, you can be certain I am doing it interests or amuses me, not because I think it is a big deal or that everyone in the world should be paying attention.

Cathymac

I think it was WONDERFUL that Romo bought a ticket for the poor man. Really! What I "rail" against is that somebody makes a BIG DEAL of such a kind but small gesture. It shouldn't be anything to write about to begin with, and I don't think Romo feels that way either. Bet he'd be embarassed that it was noticed. He's most likely a truly kind person, or he would not have paid any attention to the homeless man.

Has enough been said about this maybe? It has for me, in any case.

Joe, just looked up charity in my Liberals Dictionary :

char⋅i⋅ty –noun, plural -ties.

Expecting from others generous actions or donations to aid the poor, ill, or helpless, which you are unwilling to provide yourself.

Maybe the reason she lives so selfishly is because Lovisa does not like the idea of strangers living in her house. How abhorrent an attitude.

Imagine the house you live in might be seen as a big house to one who is homeless. It's all relative isn't it Lovisa ?

"Hero worship sucks"

Very apropos in light of the recent election eh ?

It's amazing, Brian, that you could say it's "evil" to think someone should give away what they have and then in the next comment talk about worshiping Jesus Christ. It's as if you have a magic Bible that lets you skip over all the verses you don't like, such as the many verses where Jesus attacks wealth and tells people to give away what they own, and invents verses you wish you saw there like non-existent proscriptions against abortion and homosexuality.

I do agree with you on one thing, "hero worship", other than worship of Jesus Christ, sucks.

Lovisa,

What someone owns is what they own. It is evil to think they *should* give it to someone else for any reason. If they decide to give someone something that they did not earn it is called being gracious. While it may be that those that do not have much give a higher percentage (and therefore are giving "more" as a percent -- which is more charitable) it does not mean that anyone should be saying the person did not do anything, or that they ought to do more. Grace is grace specifically because it is not obligated. Those that have great wealth owe nothing to those that do not just because they are wealthy.

I don't earn millions, I don't own a big house, I can't afford to go to the movies, let alone buy tickets for someone else, but sometimes when I see a good buy at the supermarket, I buy an extra bag of apples and loaves of bread to drop off at the homeless shelter.

However, that's neither here nor there. It just seems funny, not funny funny, to me that when someone "famous" does something, in this case buying a movie ticket and SITTING NEXT TO HIM, it's considered like, WOW!
