Goin’ Out For Drinks With Ben Dover

…and it looks like I’m buying.

Damn it all anyway.

Well, it was a very good contest, and the Steelers’ defense was all it has been cracked up to be, but jeez someone must have put something in Witten’s and Romo’s water: Those guys just were not on the same page for some very significant moments in tonight’s game. Like two plays at the end of the fourth quarter where each had totally different conceptions of where exactly the ball and receiver were meant to meet.

Oh well, I can think of worse punishments for losing a wager than having adult beverages with Ben Dover.

Good game, Steelers, and all you mindless, boilermaker-swilling, “designated driver” means only drinking a twelve pack of beer, three-showers-a-week-on-a-good-week Pittsburgh fans.

  1. I seem to remember that I owe him suds, as well, Joe. We bet on the Pres. race…and I lost. :)

    Joe –

It was largely a defensive struggle that went down to the wire – there’s no doubt that it wasn’t pretty.

Regardless, I genuinely look forward to the get-together, and to sitting down with you and definitively resolving the 83.7% of the World’s problems.

I am looking forward to it. Ironically – I will be “Deep in the heart of Texas” next week, but am hopeful that we can connect during the week of 12/15 at the Sweetwater Tavern. Talk to you soon.

    Best regards -

  3. Week of 12/15 at Sweetwater sounds great

My Eagles beat Jacob’s Giants (who saw THAT coming?), so now I have to buy him lunch.

What ever got put in Romo’s water got into the Giants offense. The whole lot of them looked confused and could not hold onto a pass to save their lives. The bomb thrown from Manning to Hixon being highly representative.

The Eagles offense on the other hand did well. Both team’s defensive units tackled the running back for a loss on a number of occasions. The Eagles in my estimate are better than their record.

When the play calling does not do something stupid, like call 60+ passing plays the offense of Phili WILL produce.

    Good game Eagles.

They still had a few bone-headed plays — the end-arounds and odd pitches that did nothing but lose yardage. Then, of course, there was the defense, which going into “prevent,” finally allowed NY’s offense to score.

Hell, even VT learned that lesson. Against BC on Saturday, the last play of the game they sacked the BC quarterback!

the end around’s and reverses normally work. You have two VERY aggressive defenses. They wil catch you in the back field, and then kill you if possible.

No against the Giants, they don’t.
