I have not weighed in on this apparent raging controversy over whether Barack Obama is eligible to be U.S. president, since he has not been able to produce a birth certificate, because right now I have bigger fish to fry. Like the fish which is my life. And I just have not seen any reason to sacrifice one more nanosecond of said life to the 2008 elections.
On top of that, the controversy has the whiff of flailing about, and David Horowitz is of the opinion it is nonsense, and over the years I have found I agree with David Horowitz on just about everything.
But the bottom line is I am not inclined to fight that fight. Any who are of the opinion they have nanoseconds of their own lives to devote, please feel free to weigh in.
UPDATE: Well the debate is taken very seriously at World Net Daily, a fact we will certainly never blithely overlook.

The one genuinely interesting angle, as far as I’m concerned, is the lock-up of the Columbia papers.
So what if there is a bad grade in there?
Now, if there was an application for aid as a foreign student, that could be an interesting wrinkle.
So I think it fair to ask the POTUS-elect to pony up the paperwork.
That would be really funny if they find he is ineligible. What would happen? Would Biden take over?
I think Pat Paulson is next in line. Or is it Larry Storch?
I doubt if anything will be done. It doesn’t matter what happens, the SCOTUS will not throw out the election.
Suppose, if it is revealed that he is in fact ineligible to serve, what are the likely outcomes?
1) If it is revealed before the actual election (by the electors)…
In this case, the electors that are “committed” to Obama would likely vote for someone else, or barring that, would abstain. Abstaining would throw the election to the House, Queen Nancy presiding. But here, the 12th is fairly restrictive — they can only choose from those that are the 3 highest vote receivers.
2) After the election, the constitutional succession would kick in. Biden would step into the position.
From what I have read, Biden would not kick in either way.
Actually, McCain’s eligibility was brought up early this year (it was rumored that Obama started it) and there was a congressional hearing about it, I believe that they voted that he was eligible because his birth in Panama was to citizen parents on a military base.
Then there is the Socialist Party candidate Roger Calero who was born in Nicaragua, he came to the US in the mid-eighties, but many states allowed him to be on the ballot even though he should not have been in the first place, he also ran in 2004.
The letter below has been circulating it was sent from good old Mel Martinez to a citizen. Martinez also just announced that he was giving up his seat in the senate.
“Dear Mr. (name deleted)
Thank you for contacting me regarding President-Elect Obama’s citizenship. I appreciate hearing from you and would like to respond to your concerns.
Like you, I believe that our federal government has the responsibility to make certain that the Constitution of the United States is not compromised. We must fight to uphold our Constitution through our courts and political processes.
Article II of the Constitution provides that “no Person except a natural born Citizen, or a Citizen of the United States, at the time of the Adoption of this Constitution, shall be eligible to the Office of President.” The Constitution, however, DOES NOT SPECIFY HOW THAT QUALIFICATION IS TO BE ENFORCED. As you may know, a voter recently raised this issue before a federal court in Pennsylvania. On October 24, 2008, the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania released an order in the case of Berg v.Obama.In that case, the plaintiff, Phillip Berg, raised the same issue that your letter raises regarding proof of the President-Elect’s birthplace. Through his lawsuit, Mr. Berg sought to compel President-Elect Obama to produce a certified copy of his birth certificate.
The District Court dismissed Mr. Berg’s suit and held that the question of Obama’s citizenship is not a matter for a court to decide. The court further noted that voters, not courts, should decide whether a particular presidential candidate is qualified to hold office.
Presidential candidates are vetted by voters at least twice – first in the primary elections and again in the general election. President-Elect Obama won the Democratic Party’s nomination after one of the most fiercely contested presidential primaries in American history. And, he has now been duly elected by the majority of voters in the United States. Throughout both the primary and general election, concerns about Mr. Obama’s birthplace were raised. The voters have made clear their view that Mr. Obama meets the qualifications to hold the office of President.
I thank you for sharing your views with me and will keep your concerns in mind. If you have additional questions or comments, please contact me. For more information about issues and activities important to Florida, please sign up for my weekly newsletter at http://martinez.senate.gov.

United States Senator”
This is an example of the leadership that we assumed knew (kinda)what they were doing.
“the lock-up of the Columbia papers.”
Hmm, what about the sealed Harvard papers, sealed medical records, sealed birth records, sealed passports, school records, the selective service card that did not make sense………….
I would like to see you get a government position or security clearance and tell the investigator, “I’m sorry those records are sealed.”
The so-called transparency of government is not starting at the top, because once again someone feels that they are above the law and the rest of us.
Oh, and I just read that his Harvard buddies are helping him investigate backgrounds and choose his cabinet, who the hell are they? If I was offered a position, I would turn it down because They would not be investigating me.

“You betcha,” said Obama as he cautiously stuttered.
He was stuttering on the news tonight, Uh, I don’t, Uh, remember, Uh, what he said. Amazing how the demeanor changes each time one of his buddies is in the spotlight.
They all made so much fun of Palin saying, “You Betcha.” I didn’t know that the Savior ever uses such frivolous language.
