0bama and Blagojevich

OK, we all know that, despite coming up through the most corrupt political organization in the country, 0bama is as pure as the driven snow.  Of course 0bama himself would not discuss such things with Blago, one could get caught on tape doing that.  No, he would go through intermediaries — buffers.  The big question is, WHY?

Why would 0bama, or his staff, care who Blago appoints to replace him?

If 0bama or his staff did discuss this with Blago, 0bama could be in real trouble.  He is currently neither a Senator nor the President.  In fact, he’s not even the President-elect yet.  Even if he were, that confers no “executive privilege” to protect him or his staff from subpoenas.

We could be in even worse trouble — if we are going to have a president who is that corrupt.

    Lovisa,

The electoral college elects the President, and they meet today, I think.

  2. Lovisa says:

Thanks, sally. Didn’t think of that.

Has it ever happened that someone has been un-elected, I wonder?

    Is Jack hoping, maybe.

“But seeing you guys so sputteringly stupid angry”

Some might say that as we just had eight years of this, why stop now ?

Depression?!? Dude we just got into a recession, depsite MSM for the LAST FIVE trumpetting that we where in a recession. The Depression had unemployment rates of 25% Considering we are between 6 and 7% I think you are hysterical.

    Wolverine,

I am with you and Joe (and dan) on the wait-and-see with Osama-bama. That doesn’t mean that we (I) can’t be leary to what does or may come up. The part I don’t understand is that the liberal montra is “Guilt By Association” but it usually only applies to Republicans (inclusive of RINO’s). Why do they (the liberals) only pick “specific” instances of what is good for the goose, is good for the gander? In reality, those that question with good reason and logic should remain silent so that ANY sordid affair that comes on the horizon will disappear in a blink. Then the line “what you don’t know can’t hurt you” comes to play. What people fail to understand is that when the saying is used, down the road it comes back with a vengence to bite you in the ass. But by that time, the liberals already have someone else to blame.

My suggestion still stands. If you enact a consequence for failing your elected office by ignoring or subverting the Constitution, or you disgrace your position by engaging in illict behaviour, I believe these criminal, self-serving, god-like, corrupt politicians would go by the wayside. Unfortunately the consequences would have to be severe enough and we think “water-boarding” is torture and inhumane. A public firing squad shooting one traitor-politician on ALL national networks would get my vote but, hey…I’m nuts anyway!

    Cathymac,

I’m going to disagree with you and Dan on the UN thing. I believe that they are only socialists and naive.

Being the macho beer drinker that you were here you should really “stand out” in Colorado. If I remember correctly, isn’t most of the domestic beer 3.2%? Your bladder will explode before you feel the buzz!

Nice of you to raise the subject of obsessions. Brings to mind the Cheney-Halliburton thing…eight long, weary years of it.

Blago-Schmlago it may well be. But don’t forget that he’s one of yours. Thanks alot — for nuthin’!

    ACTor,

From what I understand most of the blue laws have been lifted. I think, and I could be wrong, that the 3.2% was only relegated to the Lord’s Day. The part where I might be wrong is whether that part is still law or not. So, it’s possible that even on Sunday you can get stinko, by liquor store means. Certainly bars are selling the good hooch on Sundays. What else would football Sunday be without good medicine?

It will come time, however, to break out the still again. My apartment gets so cold during the day, I dare say I could probably foster a lager in here. I don’t think I could sustain the cold temp when I’m at the apartment in the evenings, though. It’s frosty! This morning weather.com said the temp was -10.

Seriously, el jefe, it’s cold without a jacket. Be a pal.

We only elect those who elect the President. (And under the Constitution, we do not have the right to elect them, either.) Several electors have, in the past, voted for another candidate, but their doing so has never affected the outcome.

Jaboc – I didn’t say we’re in a depression, I said we’re on the verge. Spend a day talking to people around Detroit and then call me hysterical.

wolv – not sure whether you’re implying that I had anything to do with this blago guy, or that dems have the market cornered when it comes to political corruption. Either way, you’re wrong!

    1. How could you possibly think I might be accusing you yourself of having something to do with the Blago affair? You are going to cause me to go bald with all this head scratching, my man!!

    2. The word “yours”: My impressions have always been that you are a Dem. (Tell me now if this is not so.) Blago is a Dem. Same team. Same side of the line of scrimmage … at least until he is thrown under the proverbial bus. Clear enough? Please remember that the next time you are inclined to needle the other side for daring to have and express an opinion on this issue.

    3. Surprise!! We are on the same side in something…the tanks and the auto industry in general. I don’t like one bit how the auto moguls and the UAW have handled this industry in the past. And I say this as part of a UAW family and even as a past UAW member in that industry. I do think any bailout should have a lot a caveats applicable to both.

My old Michigan hometown, however, is already suffering from severe unemployment and a quantum jump in the number of “working poor.” This has been going on for some time now. Even as I speak, they are actually demolishing the piston ring plant where I and many in my family worked fulltime or at summer jobs. When that operation fled to nether regions, the community lost 1500 good jobs which will never come back. There are currently in that town about 70 smaller companies still dedicated almost exclusively to the manufacture of automobile and truck parts. If the auto industry goes down, the town could become an urban near-equivalent to Tobacco Road unless the USG can quickly implement Obama’s stated plan for infrastructure projects to replace the auto-related business.

I can relate first hand to what you are saying about the attitude of those in Detroit. I would guess the same is going down in Flint, Pontiac, and almost every other major town. I even understand there are already plans to shut down that big GM stamping plant in Grand Rapids. Bye-bye to a whole lot more jobs if they do. All of us, regardless of our politics, have to find a common solution to this or we are, in my opinion, going to have a great state in an almost permanent welfare status. Now, excuse me. I have to go write a check to the Rescue Mission in the old hometown. I just saw a photo of their food pantry. Almost bare.

Doggone it, el jefe, get that jacket to Kevin ASAP!! Next thing you know they’ll find him stiff as a board in a snow drift with a scrawled note pinned to his underwear: “@^%!$*^ Al Gore and his stupid global warming!!”

Years ago it was a 3.2 state everyday. Just like Califflower. Times change and I guess (hope) the states realize the need for a drunken citizenry. By the way. Concealed carry permits just got more lax so hurry up down to the local constable’s office and git chew one (there’s some bad hombres in them hills).
