Rick Warren To Deliver Obama Invocation

Rick Warren represents a large demographic which represents people willing to give the incoming president the benefit of the doubt.
Despite all the fear that has been expressed here (by me) and elsewhere, it may just be the case that the incoming president is truly going to try to be a consensus-builder.
Someone wrote in a column many months ago that Barack Obama really never expected to get the nomination. I think it rings true. But here he is, as the President-elect, needing to pull it all together. I think we should follow Rick Warren’s lead.
UPDATE: M.K. Ham says liberals should have known what they were getting. Me, I’m just relieved.
UPDATE II: Heh.
UPDATE III: Heh heh heh: “dims the luster of a day that was supposed to usher in a new era of change.”
UPDATE IV: There is not enough room on your screen for all the Hehs this deserves. No matter when you read this, you can rest assured I am still chuckling. Oh, and if you have been a good little boy or girl, and feel you deserve a treat, by all means read the comments.
You’re welcome.

Good for Rick Warren but I think it is going a bit too far to say thay he represents a large contingent of people willing to give Obama “the benefit of the doubt.” More likely “a chance.”
Personally I am not reading too much into this, Rick Warren is basically the new Billy Graham -who is too sick to give the invocation. The Rev Billy would do the same because he is a man of God.

Trust but verify.

Barack Hussein Obama might be building a consensus or co-opting a hostile constituency. Or both.
I’m surprised he isn’t having an imam chant in Arabic. That shows his political acumen for now.
