I think McConnell handled it perfectly today by pointing out that Deeds has no plan so he has resorted to attacks on McConnell.

What we should be hearing about is how Mr. McDonnell favors the multinational interests over those of Virginians.

Bob McDonnell wants toll roads run by multinational companies; Virginians do not.

Bob McDonnell wants to sell Virginia’s ports to foreign operators for the next sixty years, Virginians want to retain public ownership of our ports.

Bob McDonnell did nothing to stand for our Liberty against the egregious usurpations of the Bush regime, while Virginians want Constitutional limits on government restored and the Bush power grabs, rolled back.

Bob McDonnell stands for outsourcing jobs to Communist China and other slave labor countries, while Creigh Deeds is committed to rebuilding our strategic manufacturing infrastructure, here at home in Virginia.

Bob McDonnell is standing by his friends in the multinational conglomerates and the televangelism business. He never has, nor ever will, lift a finger, other than his middle one, for the working men, here in Virginia.

This is usually explained as women who can support themselves being more able to remove themselves from unhealthy relationships. Who really benefits from keeping the women financially dependent on on her man so she wont leave? The whole family, or the insecure male’s ego?

In all seriousness, I do think that the divorce rate in general is skyrocketing due to much more than just problems created when both husband and wife are working. I was raised by the Great Generation, came to maturity in that group just before the Baby Boomers, raised my own children in the midst of a distinct change in societal attitudes during the 1980’s and 1990’s, and am now watching my own kids struggle harder than I ever had to with parenthood in the 21st Century. This is just a personal opinion, but I think our problems are much deeper than just the working husband-wife scenario. It seems to me that we have developed into an increasingly self-centered society in which far too many have no clue how to “partner” with someone else. For compromise and adjustment, we appear to have substituted antagonism, petulance, and an inability to forgive. You see it in the relationship between sexes, in politics, and in almost everything we do. It seems to be all or nothing, give me what I want or I’ll just walk away from you. Somewhere, to my way of thinking, this bus has gone off the road.

You never justified Bob “McConnell”/McDonnell’s ;-0 sympathy for the SCOTUS decision (Griswold v. Connecticut) that struck down a State law illegalizing contraception. How come so many “conservatives” are so OK with governments meddling in our most private affairs? And don’t give me that line about “the right of privacy isn’t in the Constitution”, just read the Ninth Amendment to see re “unenumerated rights.”

About global warming on the side: Most scientists believe it is real, for basic theoretical reasons involving IR absorption. Global warming was predicted in 1897 by Svante Arrhenius. Of course climate goes up and down like the stock market, but the upward trend occurs most periods lately. The latest reports show more ice melting, not less. And if something is higher on average, then top peaks will more often reach past various benchmarks.
