Did Obama Sign Off On Lockerbie Bomber’s Release?

Author | joe | Posted on | September 7, 2009 | 8 Comments

The mainstream press will not touch this story so follow it at Hot Air.

UPDATE: Below the fold is the list of victims of the Lockerbie bombing. As you can see, the vast majority of the 270 killed were U.S. citizens.

UPDATE II:  News report following the bomber’s release, worth watching … especially in light of the logical conclusion of the aforementioned leak to the British press:

Which leads me to only two possible conclusions:

  • The British officials are either lying or jaw-droppingly misinformed about what Obama knew and when he knew it; or…
  • Obama could have stopped the release but chose, for political reasons, not to do so. To put it another way, if the Brits are correct, then Obama tacitly approved, by deliberate inaction, the release of the Lockerbie bomber.

Lovisa is trying to thow you off, assuming everyone will be too lazy to click on the link themselves.

Here is where the leak was reported:

Yea, dailymail! They also say that “Prince Andrews had talks with Gadaffi son”.

World Press and Daily News – reliable sources. Koolaid OD this Labor Day, perhaps?

“They also say that “Prince Andrews had talks with Gadaffi son””

So does the BBC, are they kool-aid drinkers as well ?

    Lovisa,

What dans said is perfectly appropriate. Even if the world’s most outrageous news source reports something, it is a logic fallacy to dismiss the argument because of the source.

How many “reliable sources” carried the stories relating to Van Jones? If this was enough to dismiss a person, shouldn’t you now discount those that did not carry the news (abc, cbs, nbc, etc.) as not being reliable (they filter the news to slant public opinion)?

Students of journalism, what a waste. All that money spent in good faith only to end of reading what someone else wrote from a teleprompter…hmm, sounds like someone else.

There are no journalists anymore, only puppets securing the agendas of others.

Rather than have all this back and forth about what may be creditable and what he Obama did or didn’t know or did or didn’t try to do, wouldn’t it be so much easier if Obama simply allowed the Scottish to release the communications that US officials had with Scottish officials leading up to Megrahi’s release. Doing so might also be a sign of open government as promised.

Last March, NASA reported the oceans have been cooling for the last five years. Sea level has stopped rising, and Northern Hemisphere cyclone and hurricane activity is at a 24-year low.

Environmental extremists and global warming alarmists are in denial and running for cover. Their rationale for continuing a lost cause is that weather events in the short term are not necessarily related to long-term climatic trends. But these are the same people who screamed at us each year that ordinary weather events such as high temperatures or hurricanes were undeniable evidence of imminent doom.

Now that global warming is over, politicians are finally ready to enact dubious solutions to a non-existent problem. In Britain, Parliament is intrepidly forging ahead with a bold new plan to cool the climate, even as London experienced its first October snowfall since 1934 and Ireland went through the coldest October in the last 70 years.

This is an absurd spectacle. Our advanced civilization is being systematically mismanaged by technologically illiterate lawyers responding to political pressures from irrational fanatics. Would someone please tell these people it is impossible to overturn the laws of thermodynamics?
