Here are some images from yesterday’s (September 12, 2009) 9-12 Project/ Tea Party Express demonstration in DC. Since I was not permitted to bring the chopper anywhere near the Capitol area the best I could get were ground shots, but this time lapse capture from a traffic camera gives a good sense of the size of the crowd.

Not really, it was pretty multi-ethnic. Probably about the same composition of the US population.
What in the world is going on with people today…..8 years ago when we started fighting a war that wasn’t right, NOONE demonstrated that BUSH was sending our money overseas to help out countries we invaded, but Mr. Obama is keeping money here, trying to help us out….and you “for a lack of a better word” IDIOTS are demonstrating about a health care plan that help AMERICANS as a whole!!!!! WAKE UP PEOPLE!!!!!!!!
The Usurper is NOT keeping money here, forcing auto makers to sell to foreign companies, bank bailout money going to foreign banks, Illegal Aliens sending all but what they absolutely need to live in a house of 10 or 20 to their foreign countries, billions promised to the UN, expansion of NAFTA……………..I would have to write a book.
Ignorant people without health insurance are in for the let down of their life….you are not getting free health insurance, you will be forced to buy it just like your car insurance, if you don’t, you will be fined and the fines will be taken from your tax refund or you will be billed. The jerks in DC have already outlined how much the fines will pay of the cost for those that will pay, they are banking on you NOT buying insurance to fund their scheme.
As his close friend Rev Wright recently said, “Obama ain’t Jesus, he’s a politician doing what politicians do.” I had to give him credit for that truth. I must add, a bad politician at that.

I agree the rally/protest was multi-racial/ethnic, with identified Democrats to boot. The commonality was everyone looked clean, they were respectful and having a good time.

As a retired Viet Nam vet, and a senior citizen, I regret that my siblings as well as a large percentage of those with whom I grew up feel “entitled”. Even some of my children feel that way. It is a sad day when citizens of this great country feel they are unable (or unwilling) to provide for themselves. I believe we older citizens are at least partially responsible because we gave our kids (the present day Liberal Left) everything and taught them they don’t have to work or wait for anything.
Yes, I recieve Social Security, such as it is, and I live on that plus my life’s savings. It took years of hard work for me and my wife to get here, and now I fear that our country is sliding into an abyss similar to 1939 Germany, Italy and the USSR.
Freedom is not free. Security is not guaranteed. Government is not the answer.

Couple of Tv commentators on the Mall reported that the majority was white and middle age. (Of course, there were kids carrying signs they probably didn’t know what they stood for) Nothing wrong with that. But it ain’t a cross section of the population! Definitely NOT multi-racial/ethnic mixture.

I didn’t see any signs in those videos stating: “Whites Only.” What some of these dummies do not understand is that, when freedom is taken away in this country of ours, it will be taken away from everyone. When the IRS comes to extract even more money from your wallet, your skin color won’t mean diddleysquat. If this country goes broke, we all will be broke, regardless of skin color.
And, if it ever does come to a point where such actions are defined by any sort of racial preference or exclusion, you could get a taste of a real nasty racial conflict. Moreover, if you think everything can be laid on the backs of the wealthy, you are going to be mighty surprised when that doesn’t work and the government starts coming for your bank account instead. So, shitcan the race-based chatter before your brains turn totally to mush.
I wonder if we will hear this same racial crap when the amnesty issue arises once again. Then I will ask all of you why there are not more African-Americans marching with us. After all, if anyone has lost jobs because of the flood of illegal aliens, it is our Black population. We have entire city centers beset with the unemployment of young Blacks; and all around me I see construction jobs and service jobs in the hands of illegals. I witnessed the crews of the trash and recycle trucks servicing my own neighborhood change color from Black to Brown. It looks to me like some people had better start to realize on which side of their bread the butter is located.

Greg, I would trust Steve Debenedittis with the US presidency in a heartbeat, before any of the last, oh roughly 4 occupiers of that office – so I am not at all comfortable with even using the “mayor of Herndon” as a measuring stick for Obama. The mayor of Herndon (along with a few of the Herndon leadership) is par excellence when it comes to political office holders. Herndon is very lucky.

This information and a likely investigation was all over the news (except the big 4) many months before the election.
michele’s position paid approx $50,000, after he became an Ill senator her annual salary was raised to over $320,000. An investigation was called for when she continued to receive paychecks while campaigning. Never heard anything more about it, wonder why?
New twist, if the poor can’t afford the mandatory health insurance, fine ($$$) them so they may pay for others.
It just sounded so ridiculous that a mayor of little Herndon could do better than Obama. Would have reacted the same way, had you said the mayor of Manassas Park or Sterling or similar.

I’ve had a number of conversations with Steve, and have followed the goings on in the town since Herndon’s border is 500 feet from my house. He is one of the most intelligent public officials I’ve had the privilege to know.
Joe….since I think Obama thinks he’s pretty intelligent, too…could you specify that the Mayor of Herndon is actually one of the most Honest people you know. That’ll be more of a clean break. Obama wouldn’t tell you the truth if you beat him. He’d hire union thugs to follow you home and “convince” you later.

You are right. I would like to apologize to Mayor Steve. I too admire his leadership. Comparing him to president Hopey Changey could very well ruin his political career. I do not want that on my resume.
I was trying to elevate Hopey Changey from the strata of Asst Manager of Dairy Queen as you have previously pointed out to something in the political world a bit closer to His current job. I failed to make the connection and the more I think about it, being the Mayor of Herndon is a terrible fit for President Changey. The mayor actually has to do something beyond testing teleprompters and appearing on the cover of GQ.

I was at the rally and spoke with people of different races and backgrounds. I saw one comment asking why people didn’t unite to protest against policies implemented by George Bush. Perhaps the writer should answer the question – why didn’t s/he and others take the time if they felt passionately about it. The point now is that those against more debt, violating the Constitution with mandates to insurance companies and the insured, and moving State issues to the Federal level are not being silent. There is simply too much at stake and we are afraid of losing the essence of our nation and the security of our future.

Why do the racists boneheads always look for diversion? There were a group of people surrounding a news crew from WUSA 9. The crew was planning on what/who to interview and after 5 minutes , gravitated to the closest Negro. The news anchor was Asian. THAT is the media for you. One Negro gentleman was yelling so loud next to me it hurt my ears. He was revved up AGAINEST this Congress and administration. This is the problem with having the first Negro president being a mobster-racist-lying thief! And why didn’t people hold more protests againest Bush? You tell me! The public option is just one more health insurance plan for Americans to purchase CHEAPLY compared to what they would pay for private insurance. It’s not free to anyone. Medicaid is free, however, to those whose income qualifies.
George Bush’s 2009 budget he signed into law last year is still in effect until October 2009. The tax cuts for the uber wealthy will sunset in 2010 (under Reagan/Clinton the wealthy was taxed close to 75% and Bush’s tax cuts had that rate at 25% and below) which will bring much needed revenue to the government. The Iraq/Afghan wars will be coming to an end in 2011/2012 to save more money in the end. As pointed out by President Obama, his health care reform plan will cost a trillon OVER 10 YEARS and it will be waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay cheaper than the Iraq war alone.
As of right now, private insurance companies sell plans and handle claims. That’s all they do. They don’t provide health care or access to health care. Most small businesses are spending 40% or more on health care for their employees. Wouldn’t it be nice if the number was only 5% or less? It would create profits for the company to have this extra money. The public option plan would provide competition to these overpriced plans, because to be competitive, they would have to lower their rates. In a perfect world, in the next 4 years while health care reform is being hashed out in the Congress before implementation, the cost of private plans may be low enough for all Americans to afford. This in itself would be a victory for small businesses and individuals, don’t you think? I think so. In the end when the public option is implemented, only a small percentage of the population may choose it. Wouldn’t this make the pro-private-insurance-industry people happy? Yep.

Just keep in mind that:
1. $200B / year isn’t “free”, someone has to pay for it – and if history is any guide, that $200B will quickly become $400B/year, financed by the Chinese, and paid for with a lifetime of servitude by your children’s children.
2. Medicare is going bankrupt – if the government has proven totally incapable of managing Medicare and Medicaid costs and budgets, what makes you think they’re suddenly going to be able to run a public option?
3. Despite massive subsidies, (paid for by us taxpayers), government-run entities like Amtrak and the Post Office are incapable of competing with free enterprise. Free-enterprise has the profit motive – bureaucracies have the self-preservation motive, and not much else.
4. There is absolutely nothing in any of these bills that will do anything to contain costs, which is, really, the only thing most Americans are worried about, and what this monstrosity was sold as.
You want competition? Allow insurance companies to compete across state lines. Do it today.

Isn’t the opinion of white people significant in our country any more. Does it always have to be tied to other racial groups? The march treated everyone with respect regardless of ethnicity or political affiliation. We even respected the paid counter demonstrators and asked them to explain their views. Interestingly, none of them could actually explain what they were for, only what they were against.
Three years or so ago my wife and I began watching Glenn Beck on CNNHL, and I became a fan immediately. Not only have I learned a whole lot from him (as I respect a good bibliophile), but I love and respect his passion for the VERY BEST (and FIRST) things of our republic.
