Voted on the way to work, a few minutes before 9, about 8-10% of the precinct had voted, about average for that time of day.

  2. I worked Rolling Ridge precinct, the “Obama precinct” in our area which went for Obama-Biden 62% – 36% – which I also opened in November 2008. If what I saw is indicative or what is going on elsewhere in the state the Democrats are going to take a thumpin’ tonight.

Whereas last year maybe 1 in 10 Rolling Ridge voters was remotely receptive to being handed a Republican sample ballot, this year only 1 in 10 was NOT receptive and the number actively seeking the Republican ballot was 3x the number seeking the Democrat ballot.

Can’t say whether this is because Obama voters are simply not showing up, or because of Independents realizing what a horrific mistake they made last year and now lurching to fix it.

Now, there is an outside chance this was all because I dressed pretty nattily, if I do say so myself, and if I were to walk through Wal-Mart I might just attract a crowd. So I guess we won’t really know until tonight.

However, if I was a bettin’ man I would say Obama’s lead coattails are dragging the entire Democrat slate down to the bottom of the sea; a bloodbath for all those with a “D” after their name.

I have been hearing nothing but good news from our side all day, and a poll worker I have been chatting with admitted that their expectations for the day were low. It says something when the other side pretty much admits defeat in the middle of the day.

Waiting for the polls to close is going to seem like an eternity today..

I voted earlier today and was surprised at how few people were out. I can’t wait for the returns.

I just wish I could have voted in NY & NJ today too. :-)

I wore my red hat lady hat, but with a LeMunyon bumper sticker tucked in the band.

Only Democratic pollworker when I was at Little River was Caputo’s son in law–his daughter was holding the fort at the Dulles South Multipurpose Center.

Little River, the only precinct in the 67th in Loudoun, was divided this year–so instead of doing split polling at the school, people from ACROSS THE STREET were being sent into the 13th to vote at the rec center.

  7. Wolverine says:

Barbara, perhaps the next Loudoun Independent headline should read: “Caputo kaput. Done in by a lady in a red hat.”

Keep that hat ready. It could prove useful in the 2010 and 2012 campaigns. After that, we can retire it to the Loudoun Museum in the political history section.

I’d put a smiley face in at this point; but I clean forgot again how to find one. Getting old, I guess. Maybe Leej can give me a refresher lesson.

  8. Barbara Munsey says:

Wolverine, I would bet it had much more to do with supporters of his in Fairfax who were arrogant enough to dress in Hawaiian garb and heckle LeMunyon at a candidate forum. How bright was that?

He got whacked in Loudoun, but that’s because his Loudoun district is where the schools got killed for that personal realy deal. People were already seeing red without my hat!

Best five dollar hat I ever bought though!
