Super Bowl commercials not overly impressive so far

My take so far: what a colossal waste of money most of the super bowl commercials are. Anhauser Busch especially should be ashamed of their marketing department.

The game is ok. I thought the colts would win by a mile but that’s not happening.

Manning can move the ball. Every broadcaster I heard today was so sentimental over the Saints it was hard to be believe they were talking about football.

Wasn’t that Tim Tebow ad so offensive?

  2. The saints definitely are having to reach – the trick plays, 3 long field goals. Payton is pulling out all the stops.

Why the hell did they just have a commercial for the us census?

  3. Cathymac says:

2.5 million tax payer dollars for that commercial.

The Saints kicker is saving the game for them, 3 fourty plus yarders is pretty cool. I’m just tired of all the “who dat” crap.

Speaking of the Who, they were as croaky as Springsteen last year. Can they find a band from the past 30 years – besides Prince?

  4. Ok the Kia commercial was like something from Japanese TV. What country makes those?

  5. Cathymac says:

    Buttheadastan

  6. Ha! Yes definitely

  7. Barbara Munsey says:

Interesting ad about pledging allegiance to the debt, “and to China, for lending us money”, “until the day we die”.

  8. Yeah that was good to see, that an apparent non profit has the resources to run a super bowl ad that might do some good.

This is starting to look like whoever gets the ball last will win. Very good game.

  9. Cathymac says:

I like the screaming chickens in the oval office…..

  10. Jeez looks like the saints are actually going to win

  11. Cathymac says:

Boooooo, Who dat? Who cares. Color me bitter!

  12. Maybe Peyton can pull off a miracle …

CBS’ lineup of shows really is not very impressive.

  13. Cathymac says:

I love the etrade baby commercials.

  14. Oh well, on the plus side the Olympics and NASCAR start soon.

  15. Yeah they are good, among the few that were in my opinion. Godaddy is getting predicable…

  16. Cathymac says:

Seeing Drew Brees with his son was wonderful. Congrats to the Saints.

If the NO Saints can go from the Aints with paper bags on their heads – there is hope for the Redskins.

  17. Loved the pledge to the debt…in extreme primetime, no less.
I said to my wife- before the game Count On Losing This Sunday. I won our wager….and I get to sleep in tomorrow while she feeds the horses (for a solid week!).

    I missed the Tebow commercial!!

  19. dans says:

I thought the Doritos commercial with the dog and bark trainer collar was pretty good.

Manning strikes me as a bit of a prima donna and a sore loser. Glad to see Brees kick his butt.

    jacob, it’s on youtube :

Can’t believe all the hype, it illustrates that the “pro choice” crowd is anything but…

  21. Pitiful they had such a hissyfit over that commercial. The pro abortion people are twisted.

  22. Jacob you did not miss much, it was not a particularly effective commercial especially if one did not know the Tebow story. It would have been better if they had told that story. But it was better than nothing.

  23. jacob says:

I just saw the commercial. Not much to see. Very vanilla. Really. What it really did was show a woman who made a decision. The trouble is that it was not the decision the harpies from NOW would approve of.

Joe is right, this was a wonderful example of the over reaction one will experience when one wants to put a pro-life message out there.

  24. Lovettsville Lady says:

I loved the etrade babies and I always enjoy the Clydedales ads. The dorito commerical with the little boy who told his mom’s date to keep his hands of his Doritos and off his mom too was pretty funny. Pledge to the debt was good too.

The game was great, enough action to keep us all interested. And our team won! That always helps too!

  25. Cathymac says:

Well Dan, Manning did just lose the Super Bowl so you’ll have to excuse him from jumping up and down. Manning a Prima donna? Really?

  26. HFTB says:

The Saints need to thank Dan Snyder for giving up on Gregg Williams.

  27. dans says:

    cmac,

Maybe you should send Manning tickets to Disney World to cheer him up.. :)

Joe, at 2.5 million per minute, I can understand their choice of brevity..

  28. Lovisa says:

Brees hugging and kissing his baby; tears in his eyes. Favorite after-game sight for me.

Betty White – favorite commercial personality.

  29. Jack says:

With Boromir as their TE, how could they lose?

  30. dans says:

Who else was surprised to see Abe Vigoda ?

  31. dans says:

    cmac,

    “Manning a Prima donna?”

Btw, I am a gator fan so I do possess a degree of bias..
