So true Joe, Lind is a man with a plan and he shared it early and often with the LCRC. We had an early deadline to sign up to be a delegate here in Loudoun, it was during the February snow storm and Howie called me to make sure I got my form in. I finallly met him face to face at the first LCRC last month and he called to follow up. Seems like he has his shit together, to which I say – halleluja!

I am no expert on the divisions in the 10th either. Scuttlebutt and melodramatics aside, I think we’ll be fine with either Schmidt or Lind, but my support goes to Howie. If a candidate takes the time to contact delegates multiple times, answers questions, makes himself available at events, is up and running early in the process, and seems all around organized – yes, that candidate had huge advantage.

Dishonesty and abseteeism seem to be the hallmarks of your guy. I don’t plan on changing any of your minds….but this happy, skippy bullspit has to end. The guy’s endorsements are not contained to the 10th District, and he’s listed a good number of Dave’s endorsements as his own. Even after they’ve contacted him to remove their names from his website and literature a coupler of minths ago. That speaks volumes of desperation.

Monk, I saw your blog post but honestly have no idea what you are talking about nor a frame of reference for evaluating it. Not to say it may not be a valid criticism – just that it is completely news to me, and most of the time I can only base my own votes on first hand experience.

I will say that before I read your post yesterday I had never heard the name “Dave Schmidt” in my life. So whatever all Dave may have going on there was no way he was going to get my vote for 10th District chair anyway.

On a related note, a question: What the hell does it matter who is “10th District chair” besides someone who will work to get Frank Wolf re-elected?

So, does anyone have a reason to vote FOR Dave Schmidt? I’m sure he’s a heck of a guy, and I trust he is qualified because of some of the people I see on his endorsement list. However, I have yet to hear a reason he will better than Lind other than something negative.

Dave Schmidt who is a terrific guy by the way, his friendship with Jim Rich if indeed thay are friends, in no way effects his ability to be the 10th district Chair. He is a capable, smart and by all appearances a good man, If he were to win we would be in good hands.
All of this he is friends with, walked by his house, had dinner with , shared a table at an event , being the reason one should support or not support any given candidate is plain old stupid. It is an asinine basis for making adult decisions.

I am supporting Howie and have endorsed him via his website, some time ago I might add. My support for him is not based on who he likes, dislikes or has dinner with. It is based on our conversations over a period of time. I frankly don’t give a shit whether he loves or hates Jim Rich.

I’m not demonizing him, I’m pointing out who his cohorts and heroes are, and in my mind that makes him ill-suited to being Frank Wolf’s district Chairman. No matter how big you people think the Tea Party is nationally (and it is a force to be reckoned with) it is not going to be a huge player in Loudoun and Fairfax counties in my opinion. When McCain was running, I did (quietly) what I could to help. Not because I like McCain, but because I knew Obama was a whole lot worse (the lesser of two evils mentioned by dans). While I could have been enthusiastic about nearly anyone else, I actively worked against Obama (one-on-one with hundreds of people). While I understand you might not like some of the people that might be coming to the front now, it certainly doesn’t help to “stand back and watch” while the country goes down the tubes because even worse people get elected.

When I ran, I stated that I intended to support the Republican party candidates. I did that. Every convention delegate does the same. If you attend, you have pledged likewise? Don’t become the thing you hate.
