The Glenn Beck Restoring Honor rally in DC, which looks like it is going to attract over 250,000 people based on the current crowd, is live on Ustream. Click here to watch.
Sarah Palin just went on. Wish I could be there!
Joe, Joe, control yourself! Would you be able to listen to that screechy voice every day?
Palin was there honoring our troops, as the mother of service member – her words were directly from the heart.
Alveda King got it right. The event as a whole was wonderful.
GOD BLESS AMERICA!
I never seen so many people in one place, the crowd stretched from the Lincoln Memorial to, and encompassing the WWII memorial. The crowd was significantly larger than 9/12 tea party.
The Vienna Metro station was totally overwhelmed. We had a 45 minute backup on 66, and waited in line outside the station for more than an hour. The line grew to approx 300 yards in length around the parking lot, they suspended fair card usage which finally got things moving. Imagine similar scenes at other stations. Left my house at 7:30, arrived downtown at 11:30. Met some folks who sat up close, and they arrived at the event at 4:30am.
Thanks for the report, Dan, and I am glad you were able to go. I would have been there if it was remotely possible.
It will be interesting to here more about it (been away from tv and web all day).
Thank goodness for Glenn Beck.
Dan I heard many stories of early metro back ups. So glad you went! I watched on-line and it was fantastic – Amazing Grace was an unbelievable end. Alveda King was wonderful and every speaker really touched me.
Beware nay-sayers, or those that didn’t understand this event!
It was definitely a non-political event, save for 3-4 folks (twenty something Californians) carrying around “I like Obama signs”.
If you can, visit http://www.specialops.org/ and support one of the main themes of the event. Americans taking care of other Americans, w/o government intervention.
As we were leaving, we found another event, Michele Bachmann was speaking near the Washington Monument. We paused for a few moments, but by then some in my group were pretty tired, and we needed to find a place to sit and get some food.
The grounds were pretty much spotless after the crowds dispersed.
Hey Dan, by the way Pillars of the Earth is fantastic. The depiction of Christianity is kind of crappy but it is a well done historical story.
Joe, I’ll look for that, thanks..
There were some aggitators there asking black people why they won’t vote for Democrats, arguing with them actually:
“The crowd was significantly larger than 9/12 tea party” (OF 2009)
Phixed. We’ve pretty much doubled our numbers for the 2010 event. Watch!!
Monk, I hope so, I plan on being there.
Since I did not make the Restoring Honor Rally, I am going to try my best to be at the 9/12 Tea Party. Anyone who is going – give me a holler. I may bring my kids this time, but would love to travel and/or hang with NovaTownHall peeps.
9/12 info :
Erick Erickson, Andrew Breitbart, Dick Armey ( and more) listed as speakers.
This is going to be one heck of a rally.
The speakers that stick out for me are Cucinnelli, Pence and the Gatlin Brothers! I can guarantee KC will deliver a killer speech….
Sounds like Lovisa may be interested in attending…
