David Ramadan Campaign Flyer
Joe Budzinski Campaign Flyer
Uh oh, Joe, you did it again! Get ready for the onslaught of paid operatives! Excellent artwork!
Shoot, I’ve always thought of you as Joe Buttinski!
( Budzinski – the all-American name)
Hah! “Moving into your district.” That’s good.
Joe, since the President has laid claim to all Lincoln (and now Reagan) imagery, I see you more as a Giant Stay-Puft Marshmallow Man, coming to a district near me!
“I’m a giant walking marshmallow man, the form that the Traveler, Gozer the Gozerian took when he returned to destroy the world. During the rectification of the Vuldronaii the Traveler came as a large, moving Torb. Then, during the third reconciliation of the last of the McKetrick supplicants they chose a new form for him—that of a giant Sloar. Many Shubs and Zuuls knew what it was to be roasted in the depths of the Sloar that day, I can tell you.”
Five hours and no onslaught. Talk about clueless. Someone has botched the respectability of a certain blog with the replacement of respectability with SPECULATE-ivity. That’s what happens when bridges are burned. You stand on the other side of the abyss and invent a storyline to accompany what you’re able to make out from 300 feet away.
Joe…nice artwork. It rivals David’s.
The public deserves to know more about Joe’s “two nice cars”.
Dean, I thought of you and your nephew today when we were making our family rounds.
As always, thanks to those who serve.
Barbara, you absolutely rock, woman! I was just about to redecorate the sidebar and a little retro 2006-vintage NVTH is just the mood I need. Thank you.
Lovisa, we’re all as American as we feel, I always say. We European imports have to stick together.
Monk and Cathy, thanks for continuing to tolerate the occasional excesses here, and my apologies for any bruised toes.
Joe – When Tom Rust retires, I see a House of Delegate campaign in your future – you have my vote.
These things happen when the Virginia weather suddenly turns hot. You just have to let it runs its course and hope for the best.
Disclaimer: I haven’t been paid by anybody — dang it!!!
Barbara -Thank You. I was unable to go to the grave today in Culpeper. But a trip into Arlington Cemetary to pay honor to all those who sacrificed so much was in order. I appreciate your remembering EJ’s sacrifice.
Joe, it’s all good. It even got a smile from me.
Ditto here Monk, remembered your nephew yesterday and am so very thankful to you and your family.
Still obssessed with me. Sad.
Well thank you Joe! (*blush*) and you’re welcome Dean. I’ve crossed his bridge, and it’s really in a beautiful spot.
Joe, I forgot all about Puffy–gone but not forgotten. I was simply struck by the chiselled yet mallowy properties of your noble face above.
I also recalled this classic blast from the past:
LMAO. Wow. Anymore campaign material like that and Jo Chase might be able to resurrect her bid for delegate. This is another tin eared piece, David has is heart in the right place, just needs to run a professional campaign.
I would hate to see the Republican version of Feder win the primary :: Go David Go.
Abraham Budzinski for the VA GA in 2015. The campaign motto – More American than any of you. More American than ever. Getting more American all the time. Yup. I have tears in my eyes.
Jacob–no intent on my part to disparage David, his character or candidacy. I was just so overcome at the thought of a mellow mallow Joe sitting in such exalted splendor that my mind went…all over the place.
That Feder piece IS a classic, IMO.
Barb, I was thinking of Chase as the Feder stand in
I have no intention of demeaning JoAnn, her character or candidacy either.
I’ve volunteered with her before in Dulles (as I have with David).
I’m not in the 87th, but the 67th, where I am excited to be able to vote for LeMunyon again!
Thank you, Cathy…and all of you who continue to think of him. Barbara, there are two bridges named in his honor. He shares that honor with 2nd Lt. Leonard Cowherd, also assigned to Company C, 1st Battalion, 37th Armor Regiment , 1st Armored Division.
One is on Rt. 29 in Brightwood, Va…and the other is inside the Town of Culpeper on 522N heading out of town towards Sperryville.
The one I am familiar with is the Route 29 bridge.
That’s the major highway. Unless you go on a getaway to beautiful Rappahannoch County via Rt. 522, you won’t pass over the other one. It was dedicated before the Rt. 29 Bridge was.
I have always marveled at how they chisel glasses into a stone face! The only part that you need to know about Joe’s cars are that the paint isn’t peeling on either one of them. He truly is more American than anyone. AND he grows flowers.
Ho, ho, ho, ho, ho. Since things have started to drag somewhat on this site, I thought I might wake up you conservative Repub faithful just a bit. You’ve got a real live one who appears to be the likely Dem pick to run against Delgaudio. Name of Alfonso Nevarez. Says he moved into Northern Virginia about five years ago. How long in Sterling Park? Let’s see. His house sold in 2003 and again 2008, so my guess is that he has lived in the Park for all of three years perhaps. Looks like he may have been somewhere in Fairfax before One of those instant experts on the Park and Loudoun County, it would seem. Employee of the AFL-CIO who studies economic trends. Says he got his job through a gal who was at the time the senior political strategist for the AFL-CIO.
But that’s not the best part for you guys. Al, it seems,, is a devotee of that George Soros pet project called MoveOn.org. Hear tell Al went to the New Organizing Institute some time back to learn how to become something called an on-line activist. Admits to being an avid contributor to Daily Kos. Says he plans to rouse local MoveOn activists, as well as Obama for President (OFA) leftovers, to bring the Park into the Dem column at the BOS. (You can see most of this on Daily Kos, 3 Feb 2011.
So, Repubs, looks like you may have a chance to go head to head with, inter alia, elements of MoveOn.org itself. O.K., LCRC, how you gonna handle this battle?
Correction. Make that Obama for America (OFA) or whatever they call themselves these days.
Oh, my. I especially wonder how the anti-Eugene Rs will handle this one.
If they’re smart, they’ll come together.
They may not like Eugene, but they will not like having a union base of hardcore progressive loons in county either.
McGimsey attended much training through the Wellstone Institute (you know the guy who died in a plane crash, who still has cells of acolytes that believe a trailing motorcade containing Cheney, Rove and Rumsfeld brought the plane down with a handheld disruption prototype device from the CIA’s black budget, right? Explains a LOT about our Ms. M, at least IMO, and do know she explored having county staff go for Wellstone training too!)
Works for the AFL-CIO??? Sounds like another horrible recruit from the clueless mind of Bob Moses then. Delgaudio wins again, easily.
Geez, a carpetbagging union employee from San Francisco, a Daily Kos contributor and Rescue Ranger, a Huffington Post member, a Card Check supporter in a Right-To-Work state, and a George Soros devotee – in Loudoun County?
I think he must’ve taken a wrong turn at Albuquerque – he’s about as out-of-place as one of Lyndon Larouche’s wild-eyed zealots – and has about as much chance of winning anything.
I wonder who the LCDC is gonna put up as their “Tea Party” candidate? That seems to be the ‘new’ formula …
Squid, he’s right at home. A lot of money and power here makes us a great beta test site for a lot of pilot things.
You DO know that a founder of Code Pink has one of the family estates right outside Middleburg, and the Ruckus Society trained there for “direct action” like the Battle in Seattle, right?
Yes, Barbara, it must be a PEC plot!
This guy will do worse than Jeanne West did, guaranteed. No chance at beating ED. The LCDC is so much worse than the LCRC ever was. It’s truly a pathetic organization these days.
Not so much overconfidence, my friends. I have a hunch that this guy will be out there hustling for every vote in a community which has seen a lot of changes just in the past four years. You cannot assume anything these days. I think you are going to have to be on your game more than you may think this time around. There could be a lot of newbie voters here now who have the same limited time connection with the Park and with Loudoun as he does. Moreover, many, many of the previous Delgaudio supporters have decamped for parts West.
And, as we used to say in my old profession, follow the money. I would expect a lot of cash from out of Sterling, out of Loudoun, and out of state, which should be reflected eventually in VPAP. That was the gist of one of this guy’s appeals on Daily Kos — send me money. I think you may have a considerable number of outsiders ponying up the campaign cash to send Delgaudio packing, with the Gay, Green, pro-union, and ultra-liberal themes being primary. No walk in the park, in my opinion. You are going to have to work as hard as he will to get your own voters to come out.
All true, Wolv, but there’s no one better in Loudoun at raising money, especially from out of his district, or at retail politics than Eugene Delgaudio.
Wolv, even if that guy can hustle, I seriously doubt he can outdo ED in that department. I’m no fan, but he does somehow manage to run an energetic campaign (even putting aside rumors of threats to illegals).
I don’t disagree with either of you. However, from what I can see, Nevarez is studying past races which we were victories but not exactly tidal waves for Delgaudio and which, if I am recalling correctly, had some low voter turnouts. I believe what this guy is counting on is a repeat of a low pro-Delgadio voter turnout, which might be overcome by his own ability to scarf up enough new voters to reverse the previous outcomes. I also think they are looking at how Miller did particularly in the Park during his race against Rust. In my opinion, the only way for Delgaudio to counter that is to make an extra effort to gin up his own numbers beyond his past totals, even though the past totals resulted in victories. Actually, I would guess that we will be seeing two hustlers really going at it full bore down here.
Eugene is going to have his hands full this time. Thanks for the information, Wolve.
Just an extra tidbit to throw out here. Nevarez gives high marks to his time at the New Organizing Institute (NOI), which he attended after receiving a recommendation from MoveOn.org. NOI focuses on, inter alia, getting out new voters and analyzing previous voting trends in order to deal with and change them. One of the founders of NOI is Judith Freeman. This gal is, in fact, the one who is the aforementioned senior political strategist at the AFl-CIO and who, according to Nevarez, got him his current union position. So, now you get a whiff of Soros and Trumka mixed together in Sterling, Virginia.
Let me clarify the previous post. Judith Freeman WAS the chief political strategist in the AFL-CIO’s Political Department until she went fulltime at the NOI, where she is now the Executive Director as well as a co-founder.
Eugene is having a fundraiser at Santini’s this Saturday 6/11 from 12-2, stop by – have some pizza and leave him a donation to win his 4th race.
While poking a bit of fun at him, I wouldn’t underestimate “him”, either – not “him”, personally, but the constellation of support “he” could bring – think of a busload of purple-shirted canvassers going door-to-door, “educating” voters – and what I see as his secret weapon – consider the lists of Obama supporters from ’08 – now, think of college students, absentee ballots, and ED’s anti-gay remarks. I bet I could collect a 500-1,000 votes for a Pet Rock (or a Gay Pirate) this summer, just tracking them down and convincing them to fill in absentee ballots – why do you think he’s setting up shop at Starbucks? In a district where the winner only needs 2000-3000 votes, depending on turnout, that’ll do.
Why they’d choose someone who’s so far left he probably wears Lenin Underoos I can’t say – any useful person who’d hang a “D” after their name could give ED a run without ever opening their mouths. They’d usually have this guy flattening tires of Republican voter transportation vehicles, not fronting the organization.
And speaking of opening mouths – I’m probably missing the subconscious message it’s supposed to be sending – but who picked that photo of him on his website? You know, the one that could be captioned “Fat man with Obama shirt caught with one hand in bag of Twinkies?” Maybe it was supposed to suggest he was handing out food to needy protesters, or represented the bag of goodies he’s gonna hand out to Sterling Park residents by virtue of his strong connection to Obama (he bought the t-shirt, after all) – but to me, he just looks guilty …
Eugene’s hard charging campaign style, his superb constituent service and the addition of 4 new precincts to the Sterling District will get him re-elected.
Squid, I also got a chuckle out of that photo. Anyway, you will have noticed that, apart from mention of his AFL-CIO employment, virtually nothing which I have posted here is on his website —- for obvious reasons, I would think. For a guy who claims he was much influenced by his time at NOI, which places much emphasis on the computer in political wars, he seemed not to have realized that his vague website references would be subject to an easy Google search and a fuller outing of his background through his own writings at Daily Kos and elsewhere. It is also quite obvious from Daily Kos and from more local postings that his opening salvo for collecting support and campaign funds is to hit Delgaudio with the Gay issue. Looks to me like that is straight out of the NOI recommended playbook. However, I think that he will soon find out that, as far as priorities go in the Park right now, the Gays are pretty far down on the list.
A vague website reference to having moved to “Northern Virginia” five years ago was a dead giveaway for further investigation of time in residence in the Park. These guys always try to get away with that. Since Dan Lloyd dropped out of this race, the only other opposition to Nevarez for the nomination is a guy name Barry Aliriza. His sleight of hand is even worse. He claims to have lived in the “Sterling area” for over ten years. Easy check to find that he lived in Ashburn until at least mid-2009, if not later, and that he is now in a small rental home in the Park which doubles as his place of business. (Does that remind you of anyone?) Aliriza also tries to make much of the fact that both his kids attended or are attending “Loudoun Public Schools” and played or are playing football there. Easy to have substituted Park View High School, but you never see that. One thing I will say in favor of Alizira, who is of Turkish Cypriot origins. He is Muslim and a member of the Adams Center and is not afraid to come right out and say so on his website. Some refreshing candor there.
The Aliriza candidacy seems to have mystified local Dems because of a relative lack of activity, even though, in my opinion, Aliriza does have a pretty impressive personal background. Looks to me like the Dems are falling in behind Nevarez, including an endorsement by Dan Lloyd, who apparently dropped out for personal and business reasons and is the only one of the trio not susceptible to a “carpetbagger” charge (lived here since 1996 and has a good local business here). Had he stayed in the race, I think Lloyd would probably have beaten out the other two for the nomination. Personally, I think local Dems may now be lining up behind what would have been their second choice in a three-way race.
Well, whatever the case, I think that a fight card of Delgaudio vs Nevarez will be an interesting one to watch. Got a feeling that we are going to see some “walking” in our neighborhood like we have seldom seen before. Why, I might even meet the Doorbell Queen face-to-face and be able tell her what I really think about Stevens without the risk of going into “moderation.” Gotta say, however, that, despite a vast political gulf, I kind of like the Doorbell Queen — cause she’s got spunk and gall and especially stamina. I’ve always admired that in a foe.
Joe, just make Wolverine a poster at NVTH and let him write a Nevarez post!!!
I don’t agree with Liz Miller on a lot politically, but she is a very nice and hard working woman. The LCDC was extremely stupid to make her talk a walk.
take a walk, that is!
Well, I keep trying, LI. But here’s another one for you all. Ever hear of a fellow named Mario Tolentino? Born and raised in San Francisco. Became a chef. Started out working some 4-star restaurants in Coral Gables, Florida, and in San Francisco. Then opened three restaurants of his own. Moved to Barcelona, Spain, and did a grand tour of European gastronomic centers. After that, he opened a business called Can Cook Cuisine at Kona Kost, Hawaii, which is focused on “personal chefs.” Followed that up with tours at the Oak Room in The Plaza Hotel in NYC and then as Executive Chef at the Juliet Supperclub, also in NYC. Finally moved on to be the Executive Chef at the swanky Shelborne Beach Resort in Miami’s South Beach. Has been featured a couple of times in cooking contests on the Food Network. Sounds like a guy well known in the profession, doesn’t it? Not exactly your everyday run-of-the mill cook.
On 4 December 2010, at Fathom Place in Sterling Park, home of Robert D. Pierce, well known photographer for the local Democratic Party, a fund raiser was held for our buddy Al Nevarez. It was billed as a Winter Banquet in honor of Al. Guess who did the cooking? You’ve got it. Mario Tolentino himself. Imagine that. The executive chef of a swanky Florida resort showing up in little old Sterling Park, Virginia, to ply his trade for a fundraiser involving a primary candidate for our BOS.
I keep telling you. This is not going to be a normal election cycle down here.
Wolverine, in the “personal chef” department, there are some heavy hitting ultra progressive Dem donors in our little corner of heaven who yes, have personal chefs.
In all of their homes.
Some of which have their own private airfields (a permitted “rural economy” use in our rural zoning areas), so lots of people can be flown in. Like chefs.
No doubt, Barb, no doubt. So, we see the candidate from Big Labor and MoveOn.org, that voice crying out on behalf of all the “working families” and the downtrodden, noshing on the fancy creations of a nationally known executive chef. And all poor Eugene has is pizza at Santini’s. Go figure.
As always Wolverine, it kind of depends on who’s eating the pizza, and who’s eating the organic heirloom locally grown Thai-fusion tapas, and where they can cast a vote.
Our personal chef has been on strike as of late, forcing the inhabitants of this abode to eat Chik-Fil-A and frozen pizzas the past two nights.
(No telling when she will be back on the job)
Wow, double strike on the personal chef! Dereliction of duty, AND forcing your family to patronize a boycotted business!
