Our community has become a roost for huge flocks of Turkey Vultures. They are filthy birds who piss and shit all over the place and whose presence is killing the trees. They have taken to eating the grouting around the community pool and to sifting through trash before the trash trucks arrive. The HOA is trying to take all kinds of legal measures to convince these critters to get out of here and go pester someone else. Legal measures, you say? Well, these filthy birds are protected under the Migratory Bird Treaty Act of 1918. If you “take, kill, or possess” one of them, you can get a fine of up to $15,000 and a jail sentence of up to six months.

Meanwhile, we seem to be engaged in a national contest over the right to stick an instrument into a woman’s uterus and tear a living fetus apart, killing it.

Turkey Vultures we protect. Our own kind we kill. What a country!!!
