Freedom to write and speak filthy words about out Presidents? Yes, that’s one freedom that’s used a lot. Lucky Putin isn’t in charge here.

The Financial Times of London has covered the recent annual confab of the US Federal Reserve at Jackson Hole, Wyoming. In their 31 August report, the Times stated that impressions from the confab are that Ben Bernanke sent a clear signal that the Fed is ready to do more to support the US economy, saying that the condition of the economy was “far from satisfactory.”

To quote Bernanke: “Taking due account of the uncertainties and limits of its policy tools, the Federal Reserve will provide additional policy accommodation as needed to promote a stronger economic recovery and sustained improvement in labor market conditions.”

Color me blue or color me red, but don’t we elect Presidents to address critical fiscal/economic issues and take or propose specific action on them? I remember a TV ad from years ago for an investment company. The dialogue went something like this: “When so-and-so speaks, everybody listens.” These days, when Bernanke speaks, everybody in the financial/economic sector listens. On the other hand, when Obama speaks, everybody decides it’s time for a snack break.

A lot of water has gone under this old bridge, but I cannot recall ever seeing the like.

Reb — At least a Romney would understand personally what Bernanke says when Bernanke is saying it and be able to react to it. Bets are being placed about another QE in the near future. Question is, if it comes, will it come before or after the election. I don’t think Bernanke is very keen about looking like he is meddling in the election, but that old boy is getting pretty candid about the sad state of the economic recovery and the jobs picture.

Can’t remember where I read it yesterday but someone posed the question “Could Barack Obama have saved the Olympics?”.

After I stopped laughing, I commented that his answer to any problem is the same regardless of the “Problem”. Olympics embroiled in corruption and bankruptcy? The Govt will take it over!

ACT, if you mean Metro, recall that some (a very few, but a very vocal few) of those opposing Metro cast themselves very strongly in the position of “betters”, and everyone who had a differing opinion was stupid, infantile, bought and paid for, and part of a corrupt conpiracy–which is why it was OKAY to lie, attack etc to try for the “betters” to win their case.

I was thinking more in lines of that amazing Obama commercial against Hillary, with the clips from 1984 of the grey people slaving in line, and the beautiful embodiment of America smashing Big Sister on the screen to show the Rising O. Masterful doublespeak and projection–the Rising O has created a lot more grey people in line.
