Yes, they have gone completely nuts. Pres. Clinton mentioned the “auto bailout” in his speech, but Gov. Granholm just goes off the deep end:
“[0bama] saved the American Auto Industry!!” — Gov. Granholm
“Let Detroit go bankrupt.” –Gov. Romney
Newsflash, Gov. Granholm: GM still went bankrupt, and Chrysler was sold to Fiat.
Wow, what a performance! They kept mentioning the auto industry as a whole, but Ford was able to make through the economic downturn without any bailout money.
I did not hear any mention of the $50 billion in taxpayer money the bailout required and the fact that GM paid no federal taxes on their record profit last year.
And why would you, HFTB. All you will ever hear from these people are what they concider to be the attributes but not the consequences of those actions. Those consequences are usually law or constitution violations, loss of freedoms careless misuse and loss of monies. We still have to hire on 16,000 IRS government employees to handle taking money out of your bank account to pay for these “needs”
And I enjoyed the part where they attributed the job growth to GM and Chryco…..DELIBERATELY leaving out the fact that Ford made those jobs, not the government motors.
I’ve said it time and again….the best course of action was to let GM go bankrupt and reform under the Chapter that let them settle with their creditors AND KICK THE UNIONS TO THE CURB. The UAW representative should have been barred from the proceedings.
Interestingly, Obama’s administration is trying to boast about a 1 point drop in the unemployment numbers (albeit without mention of the 385,000 folks who were unceremoniously dropped from the rolls as not looking for work anymore since their benefits have run out.)
This points out the fact that the number has been fudged all along, and that the real unemployment rate (counting ALL OF THOSE WHO HAVE BEEN DROPPED WHEN THEY STOPPED LOOKING) should be closer to 12%.
This was Granholm’s Howard Dean moment, wow – too bad for her. It’s pretty telling that during her 12 years in office in MI (AG and Gov for 2 terms) that MI has been squarely in the toilet – so of course she was asked to be on Pres Obama’s transition team and is highlighted at their convention.
Granholm, Fluke and BO’s girlfriend Eva Longoria just makes all D’s so proud. War on women and all that crap, yeah – you go girls!

In the category of “Would You Believe?!!”: The City of Detroit has laid off many members of the Detroit Fire Department. Somebody there has come up with the idea of inviting tourists who hanker to be a fireman to come to Detroit, pay a fee, and spend a day or two fighting fires. Don’t know yet if it is being seriously considered. I can think of all kinds of variants. Come to Detroit and be a garbage collector for a day. Ever have a yen to clean a public sewer? We have this great program…..
Let’s see. Jennifer served two terms. Replaced by a Repub governor in 2010. Maybe we should honor her service by renaming Detroit the City of Granholm.

What’s kind of amusing is that her point is that Romney thought GM should go through bankruptcy. Oh, the horror!
Oh, but wait – GM did enter bankruptcy, anyway. Probably the only difference being the government used TARP to invest in the new company, allowing the administration to pick and choose winners – the unions, GMAC – and the losers – GM shareholders, non-union employees, and the still-inexplicable step of reducing the dealer network – which cost GM nothing.
It’s only “kind of amusing” because apparently there are people who believe her whack-job interpretation of what would’ve happened had GM went through the normal bankruptcy process.
Oh, and by the way, GM went bankrupt – not “Detroit” – last I checked, Ford was doing fine.
Thing is, the President just tried to use Ford’s success to prop up the GM fiasco.
Somehow GM got a fast track bankruptcy that gave the company and the UAW one heck of a sweetheart deal. I’m no bankruptcy expert, but I thought that the slate was supposed to be wiped clean in a bankruptcy. Somehow, GM got to carry forward tax credits for billions in pre-bankruptcy losses, which is why they paid no federal taxes last year and wont for years to come. That loss of revenue has to be added to the cost of the bailout.
GM has lost my business for good. When it came time to buy a new car 2 years ago, I bought a Ford.
Like so many others, HFTB…Like so many others. It’s probably why GM is trading at $18 a share.

Now he’s mixed race and was born to a single mother, that’s not his original story and he has not been praising or mentioning his alleged sheep-herding father as he did in 2008.
